Academic Appointments

Dr. Lynch has been the elected Chief of Plastic Surgery at the Albany Medical Center, South Clinical Campus, for over 10 years. He was elected Chief of Staff in 1990 and reelected in 1991. Dr. Lynch was also elected President of the Federation of Upstate Plastic Surgeons.

Educational Background

Dr. Lynch received his medical degree from the University of Kentucky. He then went on to complete his General Surgery training at the Upstate Medical Center and his Plastic Surgery training at the Albany Medical Center. He completed postgraduate training in Microsurgery at the University of California with the famed microsurgeon Dr. Harry Buncke. Dr. Lynch went on to perform one of the first toe-to-thumb transplants in New York. His training in plastic surgery includes extensive cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Lynch has been a member of the Plastic Surgery Group of W.B. Macomber in Albany, New York for the past 20 years. He has performed over 8,000 facial plastic surgery and body contouring operations.

Awards and Honors

Dr. Lynch was awarded the Susan B. Komen "Make a Difference" award in 2000 at the governor's mansion in Albany for his compassion to and reconstruction of mastectomy patients. He was also presented with the Heart Award by St. Peter's Hospital.

He has published articles in the Journal of Plastic Surgery, the Annals of Surgery, the Journal of Urology, and the Journal of Heterocyclic Chemistry. He has also coauthored a chapter in Starks: Head and Neck Surgery .

Dr. Lynch has operative privileges at the Albany Medical Center, St. Peter's Hospital, and Memorial Hospital. He was Medical Advisor to the American Cancer Society's Medical Affairs Committee for breast reconstruction for over 10 years.
