Your Breast Augmentation Consultation
Things to consider
Before consulting with a surgeon, ask yourself why you would like to have breast augmentation. Are you doing it to save a relationship? Are you doing it because you've been depressed, and you think the surgery will bring you out of it? Are you doing it because your significant other wants you to? If you answered yes to any of the questions above, you are wanting the surgery for all the wrong reasons. Plastic surgery of ANY kind will not bring you out of a depression or save a relationship. You should have this surgery ONLY if you want it for yourself, and for the right reasons. Plastic surgery can make you feel better about your appearance, but it will not change who you are on the inside. The majority of people that choose to have elective surgery simply want to improve an area of their body or face. Plastic surgery can make you feel more confident in your appearance, and can give your self-esteem a boost, but it is not a cure-all for depression, nor is it an instant-fix for relationship troubles.
Most women elect to have breast augmentation
to:
- regain lost volume after pregnancy and/or
breastfeeding
- regain lost volume due to weight loss
- increase the size of very small breasts
- correct asymmetry (breasts that are different sizes)
Small-breasted women may want larger breasts to help them feel sexier, as well as to fill out clothes (including bikinis and lingerie) better. Larger breasts may make them feel more womanly, and less inhibited during intimate situations.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and weight loss can take a toll on breasts, leaving them deflated and without volume. Breast implants can bring back that lost volume. Sometimes, breast lifts are needed in these types of cases, but not always.
A small percentage of women have
asymmetrical breasts, meaning that one breast is
larger than the other. Breast implants can
even out the size of the uneven breasts, and
make it possible for women to wear any type of
clothing they want without the worry of padding,
etc.
