Question One breast is a bit firmer

I had my 5 month appointment on Friday and my PS confirmed that one breast is firmer than the other. I just started noticing it a few weeks ago. I asked if it was a contracture and said that on a scale of 1-4 it would only be a 1 or so. He said to massage up and down, side to side 10X/day and lay on my stomach as much as possible and that it will go away. Have you seen this go away with massaging? I also read online that Vitamin E can help. I am not sure how much to take but I have been taking 800 IE daily.
I would really appreciate any additional advice you can give me.
Thanks,

Capsular Contracture

Capsular contracture or firmness around the breast implant is a difficult issue to resolve. As you may have read, there are many different methods that patients and surgeons use to prevent and/or treat this problem. Massaging has been the easiest and safest technique used. Other non-surgical methods reported have been use of Vit E, ultrasound and Accolate medication. None are FDA approved for this purpose and their uses all have trade-offs that should be discussed with your surgeon. Of course, lastly, there is the surgical solution to open or remove part or all of the scar/capsule that is contracting around your implant to cause the firmness. If your surgeon rates the firmness low, then I would try the easy and less risky methods first to see if the issue resolves. Sometimes the treatments have worse side effects than the capsular contracture itself - as long as it remains low grade firmness. Keep following up with your surgeon to see how your non-invasive treatment methods have worked. Good luck.
