Not dropping

How long should I wait before I get concerned that my implants have not dropped. I am 7 weeks out and I'm worried the pocket is not large enough for the implant to drop. If not would this be something that my surgeon should be responsible for since he is at fault. If this is the case what can be done to fix the problem? Please help thanks so much. I am so concerned because I have 3-4" of hanging skin where the implant is not filling out the bottom part of my breasts. Thanks

too early for implants to drop

Typically 7wks is too early for implants to settle and round out the bottom portion of the breast. That typically happens after 3months. Also without photos or an evaluation it is difficult to advise you on whether or not your implants are in the correct position. If there is excessive skin in the lower portion of the breast, it may be that you need a breast lift rather than having the implants repositioned. Surgery is not an exact science and the interaction between an implant and a patient's skin and breast tissue can't always be predicted to 100% accuracy. There are definitely risks involved with the surgery and some revision in certain cases may be necessary. The best thing to do is follow-up with your surgeon and have a frank discussion about your concerns and what things just will take time and what things may require a revision. That will put your mind at ease and help you in your recovery. Revision surgery should not be taken lightly or undertaken without thorough planning. It is also very helpful to go over your before and after photos to see what has changed and what asymmetries or shape issues existed prior to your surgery. Good luck.
