Overfill?

I posted this in the main forum and also was hoping for an expert opinion. Im confused on the whole overfill thing. Im having my breast augmentation on aug 24th and told my ps that i want to go between 325 and 350 ccs- from what i saw with the sizers. He said he would use a mentor saline implant size 275 and overfill it at least 50 ccs. Would this make me the size I want? I read other places that final fill, as my dr calls it, does not change the size of the implant? Im very confused by this! Thank you in advance!

Overfilling of saline implants is common place to lessen the rippling of the shell of the implant. However, there is a limit on how much to overfill. If you overfill too much, you will see scalloping of the shell. The manufacturers - either Mentor or Allergan - have recommended ranges for their implants. Typically most plastic surgeons overfill the saline implants by about 10% of what the implant size is. So, for example, a 300cc implant will be filled to 330cc. The volume of the implant does increase when you overfill and that is what is the most important in your final sizing of your breast. Discuss this with your surgeon again if you want further explanation before your surgery.
