infrared sauna
Could you please tell me if it is safe to use an infrared sauna if you have Mentor, cohesive gel implants? I have not been able to find any information except that the gel can melt at a temperature of around 200 degrees.
Thank you for looking into this for me. |

Your body core temperature will not change.

infrared sauna
Dr. Casper,
Although the core body temperature does not change, does that mean that the mentor, cohesive gel implants do not heat up. I wondered if they would absorb the infra red light as heat and if they would, it may soften or melt. Are there any studies on this? |

Susie,
I don't think you have anything to worry about. Your implants will not melt, boil or freeze. If they do, you will more than likely be dead before any of these scenarios occur. Your skin and tissues would be irreparably damaged before anything temperature wise would happen to your implants. I don't know how far post-op you are... You should make sure your incisions are 100% closed before going into the water. |

susie thanks for asking this! i have posted this same question before but noone seems to know the answer. i was under the understanding that it is not safe to use an infrared sauna with implants as they will heat up and take much longer to cool down than your body...same as tanning. i dont know HOW unsafe exactly but i know how disgustingly hot i can get in that tiny sauna and dont know if i would trust laying in there for half an hour. if you find out any more info please let me know. i am also getting cohesive gel silicone unders! thanks again for posting this.

I'm confused......can you get cohesive implants if you live in the US if you are doing a revision. I want HP's but I am confused if they are allowed. i currently have capsular contracture from my previous redo and i have smooth salien unders.

this is probably the wrong thread for this but yes, if you are 22 or over you can get cohesive gel implants in the US.
