Nerve Cut!
Hi Dr. I had asked about this in the post op/recovery forum and someone suggested I ask one of the PS on here which I thought was a great idea:
34years old; breastfed 3 children, preBA: 34A, 265CC, submuscular smooth round Naturelle implants, crease incision
I had my BA ten days ago. (July 2nd) At my post-op appointment (July4th) I asked my dr. about numbness and I almost didn't because I feel like I already know that it does usually take time for the sensations to come back. However he asked me where and then dropped a bombshell on me and said well there was an aberrant nerve in my right breast that had to be cut that was in the way...I was under the impression that it was very unusual and possibly something he hadn't seen before.
I was sad and as I left I wish I asked more questions... like how much area does one nerve cover? I don't know if a person has 20 or 200 million of these.... I am very concerned about not having sensations and wonder what to expect.. but I am skeptical now as someone told me (in this forum) that her PS told her that nerves are too small to be seen... so this "one nerve" business sounds a little fishy. Maybe he meant a bundle of them? Anyway I was wondering what you thought... does that sound right to you? I'm a little worried because I don't think he should have been surprised that I had numbness at all. Maybe he wasn't. .maybe the question just reminded him of the aberrant nerve issue and he thought maybe it was a stronger numbness or something..
How big of a deal is this? Is it possible it will be something I hardly notice if at all? Do cut nerves regenerate? .. it seems to me that dead is dead.. and sensation is gone. I realize you can't know for sure probably but anything you feel would be helpful to know would be very much appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read my thread.
