Just got a call back regarding mammography: my left breast has calcifications and I will return for fuirther appt on Tuesday. Is this a problem for a breast augmentation? Peace

It is too soon to tell. I recommend that my patients with an abnormal mammogram get fully checked out before continuing on with an augmentation. Since implants do decrease the accuracy of mammograms, it is important to have a "clear breast" beforehand. If other factors especially family history of breast cancer put you at a higher risk for developing it yourself, than you may want to rethink having a breast augmentation.
