Breast augmentation and breast lift?

Do you do these together or separately? What are the risks and benefits of both in your opinion? TIA.

Amy,
I think most plastic surgeons would agree this is one of the toughest procedures to consistently get good results. The main benefit of combining the two is cost and recovery. Having two surgeries increases both. The main advantage of staging the surgery, is getting a better lift. The concept of this surgery is expanding the volume of the breast with an implant and then at the same time decreasing the "envelope" skin amount in order to "lift" the breast. When the sagging is minimal, then I believe the results are very good. Women with larger breasts b or c cup and/or severe drooping pose a challenge. I have tried adjustable implants and have not seen a great deal of improvement. The main concerns for the surgeon are: healing of the incisions and health of the skin/nipples. The issue is one can only place so large an implant and still accomplish the lift. It is a balancing act. With all that, I have never staged the surgery and I do not know of anyone in my area that does.
