![]() | Overfill ?
I posted this in the main forum and also was hoping for an expert opinion. Im confused on the whole overfill thing. Im having my breast augmentation on aug 24th and told my ps that i want to go between 325 and 350 ccs- from what i saw with the sizers. He said he would use a mentor saline implant size 275 and overfill it at least 50 ccs. Would this make me the size I want? I read other places that final fill, as my dr calls it, does not change the size of the implant? Im very confused by this! Thank you in advance!

Overfill is done to decrease rippling and the rate of deflation. It also increases projection. The implant dimensions change as you fill it. But at the end of the day volume is volume. Although 325cc in an overfilled implant compared to high profile or implants not overfilled only produces subtle differences. Remember that 25cc is less than a shot of vodka. I do not know the type of sizer or implant your PS is using so I can not comment.

Thank you so much for the information! My dr is using smooth round mentor saline (1600?). I tried on the 325 and 350 sizers and liked them both but will decided on the 325 and he said that he would then use a 275 size implant and overfill to 325- which is what confused me. Thank you!

Since the sizers are not adjustable and only approximate what a patient is wanting, it is not an exact science. A 275cc implant fillled to 325cc will be about the same. If the implant is placed submuscular, it will appear smaller than the sizer in some cases. If you have doubts, you could go with a 325cc implant and fill it to 350cc or 375cc. It is best for you to talk to your PS about your concerns. In the end 25 or 50cc is not a significant difference.
