Is measuring breast width common practice?

I am 5'1", 105 lbs. My ps put in 325cc Mentor mod profile. They are so wide and tall on me. Apparently mods aren't used very often by other surgeons because they are so wide? I called his office today to see what my breast width was pre-breast augmentation and the office assistant said that she doesn't think that he takes that measurement! My question is: Is measuring the breast width and staying within that for implants a standard practice or do most surgeons just "eyeball it"? What has your experience been with other colleagues and how they practice? I'm so frustrated because this is a very highly credited ps.

As far as measuring width, some do and some don't. Moderate profile implants are commonly used and is the preference of the surgeon or patient. There is not a big difference in the dimensions in most cases. One could argue high profile implants have an advantage in small chest width patients desiring maximal fullness. They do tend to look more like baseballs and this turns some women off. I switched about a year ago from moderate to moderate plus and can't say it has made a significant difference. You can check on the internet for the exact diameter, but the changes are small when you get out a ruler and see just how small a few millimeters can be.
