ruptures in silicone

I just got an e-mail from a friend. She has had her implants about 11 yrs. She said the and the silicone ruptured and it was in her armpits and other places. She has lumps under the armpits. Going for an MRI and needs a pretty immediate correction.
Is this even possible? Is it possible she got the old silicone? She was in a study. I told her to get the device cards out if she had them.

I thought the cohesive gel was more stable and wouldn't migrate like this. She is submuscular..
Now this lady does lift weights and works out about 2 hrs a day. The weights aren't light. She probably does 30# dumbells for chest flys and alot of push ups.
Could this contribute..

Also, i know you don't give referrals. But do you know anyone in Oklahoma.. I think she said NW area. She is looking to stay closer to home.I did give her your name, but it may be too far for her. This rupture may be pretty serious from what she said..
Thanks for your help.I appreciate it.

I am wondering how she got silicone 11 years ago. The moratoriam went into effect in 1992. There is no telling what they are but probably old style gels. She needs to contact her surgeon to get some info. I do not know anyone in OK. There are a ton of good surgeons in Dallas.

That is what i told her. She probably has the old silicone. She was in a study for silicone. This was a second surg. The 1st was saline overs which she said looked like baggies on her chest due to her being so thin and muscular. I just don't see how the cohesive gels would migrate as she said. She has lumps under her arm pits and they saw this on a sonagram.
Thanks alot.
Her original surgeon is retired i believe. Do you know if they were required to give device cards back then? This would tell her what she has correct...I don't know what they had 11 yrs ago.
Thanks again..

I want to say thanks for Storm for asking on my behalf. I would like to know your thoughts on weights and implants. I have been lifting weights for a lot of years. In the past year I did get up to 30# dumbbells for for bench presses and 70# with a barbell. I was in a study group for Mentor on the silicone breast implants. My first ones were saline which did not work out well and then the second time was the silicone. Also would like to know if cohesives would be ok for someone like me that works out a lot? Is there more of a chance of them moving? What if I was in a study group for gummy bear implants?
An explanation of my problem is, I went to my medical doctor because I found lumps in my axilary area and around the clavical and neck. I have went through many tests because some were as large as a grape tomato. I had a mammogram, ultrasound, dexascan(have some osteopena), colonoscopy, and finally a lymph node biopsy. When I had the ultrasound they told me that my implants had burst. Then when I had the lymph node biopsy they confirmed that my lymph nodes swelling was from the silicone. I would also like to know if you think this is why I have had constant cold and allergy symptoms for around 8 months that do not want to go away. I have been to my doctor for this. I know this is long but I do have a lot of concerns. I went back and checked dates and I had my silicone gels since 2/98. The salines were 1997. My daughter was in a study since 1994. She had a congenital defect. I am picking up my medical records tomorrow on this. I have a daughter that is a PA in dermatology that has many patients that have implants that have lasted for a lot of years with no problems so for anyone worried I think that I may just be one of the odd people that have had problems. I just want to do this right this time.
