Doctor

Does silicone (partial unders) have more of a chance of CC than saline partial unders? I have been reading mixed info on the internet and my PS that i had a consult with said the higher chance of CC with silicone is very tiny. thanks for your time.

no, there hasn't yet been any documented proof that either fill has more of a chance or even causes CC. neither does the surfaces (textured and smooth). you can also read more on it here: http://www.justbreastimplants.com/ri...ontracture.htm

Sometimes, it depends on the doctor's experiences. Others believe silicone smooth implants have a lesser chance of CC. I'm curious what Dr. Hueneke thinks too

First, the rate of CC is most important in the hands of the surgeon you choose. That being said if you look at the data produced by the companies (Mentor and Inamed), any question you could possibly have is answered in the information packets. I am not particularly familiar with Inamed statistics, but believe them to be very similar to Mentor. Silicone implants have a higher rate of CC, period. Again what matters most is the experience your doctor has. I use both but do not have a long standing personal experience with CC and silicone. So the jury is still out for my practice. I encourage you all to read the info yourselves. I have explained my theory about CC and why I believe it is higher for silicone in a previous thread. I do agree that implant shell surface does not prevent CC. The lowest published rate for CC is when a smooth round saline implant is used under the muscle. When silicone implants rupture the likelihood of CC goes up dramatically. This has been true historically, it will remain to be seen if the cohesive gels do not follow that same pattern. I hopes this helps rather than confuses (especially when I disagree with some things posted)

Inamed (allergan) style 20 HP's smooth, round, 450ccs, partial unders sils surgery date-sept 12 ribcage 26-27 inches chest pre op 31 inches/post op 34.5 inches (so far) waist 23-24 inches hips 34-35 inches 5f2, pre-op 95lbs/post op 97-98 lbs
