Update on Capsulectomy

Good afternoon,

I'm 5 weeks post op today, I just left my ps office. He said that my breast is not as soft as he would like at 5 weeks. He put me on Accolate BID and starting Ultrasound twice a week for 4 weeks, and vit E. He didn't mention CC, so I'm happy about that. With doing all that extra stuff, what are the chances of cc starting to develope? Oh, he also mentioned laying on the floor for 30 min a day to help flatten the implant and to keep the pocket loose. I notice that when I massage I can feel ripples in the implant on the bottom pole which I never was able to feel before, which makes me happy that I can palpate my implant edges. You can't see them, but you can feel them. Does this all sound pretty good? I hope I kicked CC this time. I think the firmness that I have on the upper pole is due to swelling. What is your advise?

Thank you for your advise.

All of the things he started you on are to treat a capsular contracture. I don't use accolate or vitamin E, I have tried ultrasound but found it to be of little benefit. Laying on the floor can be a good thing in terms of pocket expansion so keep doing that. I am not sure you should be worried just yet since it is only five weeks. You said you hope you kicked the CC this time - is this your second surgery?

Good Luck!

This is my second surgery for CC, but my 4th all together. I had to have surgery for an active hematoma.Thats what started my bad luck. The first surgery for CC was a open Capsulotomy.

Let me knwo how you do. If the entire capsule was removed the chances of another capsular contracture will be less in my opinion. If you develop another capsular contracture I would take a more aggressive approach and take out your implant and scar capsule, wait until everything goes back to normal, no tenderness, lumps bumps or thickened areas and then put an implant back in. This may seem unnecessary but it might be more definitive be quicker and better in the long haul.

Yes the entire capsule was removed. I just have one concern, every morning my breast is soft and giggly, but when I up doing things around the house or at work it gets firmer and tight. When I get home in the evenings and lay on it fot 10-15 min it's soft again. Is this swelling from being active at work? I'm a xray tech for fast pace Dr. office. It is the weirdest thing, My husband says i'm a medical mystery.

Having the same problems-- advice?

Hi there, I got my revision for cc on 10/2/08 and they were looking great for a couple of weeks. Then I started doing too much or something and they were swollen in a way that looked like cc again, but softer.

Can I ask, are you feeling better and also, has your swelling gone away? I am not sure what is normal and like you, am worried about the cc coming back.

Thanks!

Yes, I still have some swelling at 2 months. Now when I'm at home doing nothing boobie is soft. I do have some firmness but my Dr put me on Accolate and I did 8 treatments of US therapy, and that helped. I was told that the firmness will get better with time. Let me know how you are doing.
