![]() | Need Advice on 450cc vs. 520cc on Re-do Please!
Hello (I am from San Diego too)! I currently have the following implant: 340 CC high profile textured silicone gel by McGhan, 11.5cm diameter and 4.3 cm projection; 7.5 years old ribcage: 28.75 base diameter: 12 cm pec msmt: 35 cm (not sure what this is though) 5'4" 124 pounds Pre-breast augmentation: 34A Post-breast augmentation: 34B I now have capsular contracture on one side and have never been happy with the size I got; I wanted a larger size. My implants are also very far apart; I have a 2-3 finger width between my breasts. Oh and I thought they were the cohesive silicone implants when I got them as well. I am a 34B now and was a 34A pre-breast augmentation. I am having a re-do in November and at the PS's office he told me that my pockets were cut too high and too far apart and that a larger diameter implant would help fix the gap some. He uses Allergan Cohesives and suggested a mod +. I tried on his sizers but they were anatomical shaped (which I am not getting, I want rounds). His sizer at 180cc's on top of what I have now put me at a 520cc's which sounds very large. I want to be a full C/small D (I do not want a full D or DD, I don't want to look like Pamela Anderson or anything). Will the 520cc get me to that or should I try the 450 cc instead? I am afraid to go too large since I work out and although I like the larger look and I am somewhat hippy so I don't think it would look so bad, I don't want to look like a porn star though. I am afraid that the 450 cc will not take me to the size I want though either. There is only .5 cm difference in diameter and .2 cm difference in projection between the 2, so even though the difference sounds like a lot is it really? Please help! And to all those who take offense to the porn star or Pam Anderson comment, please don't. I think they look great, it's just not for me (or my hubby...mainly my hubby), and in my line of work it wouldn't be feasible either. Wish it wasn't so, but it is! |

If you started with a large space between your breasts then you will have a large space no matter what and if the pocket is made too close the middle where you don't have breast tissue or muscle coverage you will have visible rippling there. If you increase by 100 cc this is typically a cup size. You are correct about the volume and appearance but 500 is a lot of implant and you will look top heavy. It is unusual in my practice for me to increase the width of an implant by more than 1.5cm in any patient. Without seeing you I cannot answer the question so you will have to trust your PS to make the call. Dr. Kearney |

Hello! Thanks so much for the quick reply...if I posted pics do you think you would be able to tell by looking at them if the 520 cc would make me look top heavy or would be a good fit? I don't want to look fat since I am already short at 5'4" and I have a short torso as well. I am just really afraid of getting the 450 cc and still not being happy with the size, being that it turns out too small again. I told my PS what I wanted and he left it up to me to decide between the 2 sizes based on what I wanted in the end....I really appreciate your help! By the way that pic to the left is me in a padded bra; that is the size I want to be after my re-do. |
