Hi, I am 5 1/2 weeks post op I had my implants switched from overs to under with 500cc saline and a full anchor lift. My left breast is doing great and has already dropped within 2 weeks the right breast is still high, firm and square shaped going into armpit causing a lot of pressure. I had and still have bruising midway down the breast and feel hardening in areas under the tissue and am very tender to the touch not on the areola rim but next to those incisions. My breast was draining from a small opening at 3 weeks. I asked my PS if it needs to be drained by him and he said no it will absorb in the body. That was 2 weeks ago and to date I still have tenderness and feel lumps under the skin and hardening with larger pores and some discoloration midway down the breast and the incisions are very hard and sore. I was researching online and the only thing I can come up with is "necrosis". Can you suggest anything as my PS feels I am not being patient. I dont know if this is normal. Thank you |

You are very early in the post operative course and I doubt you have necrosis, this is most likely normal healing. Tenderness can persist for a while after you have any surgery. You are doing too much research on the internet, most of what you come across is wrong or does not apply to you. If you trusted your PS to do the surgery you have to trust him/her now. Re assess your symmetry at three months. If the asymmetry persists then the "may" need to do another surgery, although there are a large minority of patients whose implants settle late. Dr. Kearney |

Thank you very much for responding to my email I appreciate all of your feedback. My PS is very difficult to communicate with therefore I turned to the internet for answers/advice. I will try to stay off the internet now and trust my PS judgement as I did use him because he seemed very confident. Your response gave me a little more hope in that I am in the early post-op period and things will hopefully get better in time. Thank you once again :-) |
