![]() | Can A Stretched Pocket Fix Itself?
I went to my PS last week because my left boob has been drifting further to my armpit than it should, it's causing me discomfort and occasionally I'll feel some pain. My PS told me to wear an underwire 24/7, the only difference was that before I wore my surgical bra to sleep. He said we'd wait about 2 months to see if it corrected itself. Do you think that it is possible to correct itself? He told me that if it didn't he could go under and put some internal stitches. I'm just wondering if I should be preparing myself to have surgery again.

A bra will seldom if ever correct that. At this point you have a scar capsule there so external compression won't fix that. You need to wait until the opposite side is completely settled before doing any surgery as you will want to match the position of the other breast. I have my patients wait until three months post op. Dr Kearney, up to what point after a breast augmentation can you do something like this, if it were to possibly be successful? Quote:

I think once the implant is out of position for the most part its game over. You now have scar capsule in the wrong area and in my experience this has to be closed surgically. Dr. Kearney |

Thanks for your reply Dr. Kearney. I have a few more questions if you don't mind. Do you think that I should look for another PS to do the redo? Regardless of whether or not this could be his fault, I don't like feeling like I've been lied to. But then I worry that if I go to another PS I'll have to pay full price versus the redo discount he has. If this is something I could wait out I could even go to you as San Diego isn't far from me, and I'm not so sure about the other PS' in my area. He also used high profile implants because he says I'm too thin to have mod+. I told him I wanted a somewhat natural look, and even though I like my implants, as I understand it the high profile give off the fake look. If you could take a look at my photos, I have a couple work-safe ones in a public album, could you tell me if I'm being delusional or if I really could have mod+ implants? I figure if I go in for a redo, I should get exactly what I want.

If you trusted your PS the first time I would stick with them. Most patients like to do some thing that might help and having you try the bra even if it does not prevent a surgery may hold the implant in a place that is more comfortable. The question about the size of the implants is a tough one to answer. If you want me to look at your photos please send them to info@kearneymd.com. You can always fit in a moderate implant but the volume and cup size you were thinking may not have matched up. I have had patients wanting to be "natural" and then choose a high profile 600cc implant. They end up looking great but not what I would call "natural". At any rate I will look at your photos. You are relatively close to San Diego so if you ever wanted to come over here I could take a look at you. You can also call me directly if you have more questions. Dr. Kearney |

Vision Quest, When you are only a month out wearing some kind of support to guide the implants can be a good thing and is used by a large # if not the majority of PS. I tell the patients to wear whatever is comfortable. Dr. Kearney |

I have a question about pocket well my breast are a little far apart in the middle. What could a doctor do to to make them a little bit more together. I don't want to sound dumb but could a surgeon disect in the insed towards the middle in order for the implants to b just a little more together. I definitely don't want symmastia but I do want cleavage I posted a picture on my public profile of what I would really want

Usually best not to over dissect the pocket medially. Symmastia is uncommone but rippling is very common. If you pinch the skin over your chest bone medially it is very thin. This would be the only tissue covering your implant therefore the risk of rippling is high. I assume you are submuscular ant the implant width matches your chest wall width. If you want me to look at your photos you can send them to info@kearneymd.com Dr. Kearney |
