Hi Dr. Kearney, I'm wondering do most patients with silicone implants follow the advice of getting MRIs after 3 yrs, then every 2 yrs after that ? Do you feel MRIs are needed ? Do you feel it would be foolish **NOT** to have regular MRIs to detect rupture ? What advice would you give a relative who was considering silicone implants, with regard to MRIs ? Thank you for your opinion in advance ! |

Hard to go against the FDA!!! I would only get an MRI scan if you had a problem with the implants such as feeling a breast lump that you felt was related to the implant. Good breast self exam beats an MRI scan the vast majority of the time
