![]() | Old crease visible after BA
Hello Dr. Mele, first of all thank you for taking the time to read my thread. I'm 3.5 weeks post op, started out as a 34A with some sag in my right breast, I was borderline lift but my PS (as well as all the others I consulted with) believed that a large enough implant would be sufficient to give me the lift I needed. I received 650 HP silicone implants, My left breast is starting to round out but my right seems to be a bit problematic. Week 1 post op I noticed that I could see my old crease in my breast, although it appears to be going away a bit I can see a bit of an indentation in the breast. I know I am still very early early in the process but what is your opinion in this situation? Do you think my right breast will eventually round out? will this correct itself during the drop/fluff process? Thanks for your time. |

![]() | Breast augmentation and Breast lift
Dear Cubanita: Since I have never seen you, I can't make any specific predictions. I can say that it can take months for implants to settle in this situation. Implants fill, they don't lift. In order to give the appearance of a lift the implant needs to be placed lower on the chest and this can take some time to settle out. If the nipple was low or borderline before surgery It may still be low or borderline afterwards, but it is too early to tell. If it drops, then both sides will round out. If it doesn't, you make still need a lift, but likely a smaller lift than if you did not have breast implants. More general information is available on my website at: http://www.drmele.com/breastliftarti...francisco.html I hope this helps.

QUOTE] Dr. Mele Per your response to my posting I'm wondering what you mean by the implant needs to settle out. I've noticed that the right breast which needed the lift DOES sit lower than my left. There is about a 3/4 of an inch difference, The bottom of the implant does sit lower than my left implant. Is that what you meant? Does this resolve itself? I'm having a hard time with this. Does dropping play a part in both of them settling? Also, Are you open to being someones 2nd opinion for a revisionary surgery? Thanks again for your responses, I truly appreciate them. |

![]() | Breast Implant Settling.
Dear Cubanita: Dropping and settling are one and the same. In the first few months after surgery the results change. In part this is from the resolution of swelling, and in part it is from the implant stretching the skin a settling into position. It is very difficult to give you any specific information without seeing you so my opinion is based more on the fact that you are a few weeks after surgery rather than a few months. So I can't really tell you what to expect in any detail. Revision breast augmentation is an area in which I have experience. Normally it is best to let our body heal first, and then see where we are. With rare exception, time is usually on our side this early after breast augmentation. If you are looking for a second opinion and are near Walnut Creek, or are willing to make the drive. I would be happy to see you.
