![]() | Flat in the incision area?
Dr. Mele I have removed my steri strips and have begun using Mederma on my scars. I noticed that in my left incision the area is flat. My breast kind of looks like this (_) It's round but a little flat, not round near the incision. Is this something that can correct itself during the settling process or is massaging the area aggresively more of a solution? The first time I rubbed the area I felt a small pop, I'm wondering if it is scar tissue. Your words would be greatly appreciate. Thank you for your help. |

![]() | Flat scars
Dear cubanita: It is normal for the scar to flatten the curve of the breast in the short term. As the scar matures it should soften and allow the breast to round out. The pop could be scar releasing or could be a dissolvable suture letting go. Either way, as long as everything is sealed up, continue the scar massage. It will speed your healing.

Dear Cubanita: Thank you for the kind words. I grew up in the Bay Area and am not planning on going anywhere any time soon. This motivates me to do the best job I can and to improve the lives of those around me. If you have time to watch, I will be on KRON4 Monday at 11:00. The show is called Body Beautiful. I pick a topic to present, show some before and after photos and take calls live. Next week I will be talking about Rhinoplasty.
