![]() | Your thoughts on bottoming out
Hello Dr. Mele I'm back with more questions, I'm feeling pretty down about my right breast, I think I have bottomed out. I don't have much a of a crease and the incision is on the breast and the implant sits lower than the other breast. I visited my PS with this concern, he told me he saw the differences but did not say I have bottomed out. He told me he wanted to see me at the 6 month mark because he would not "change something that hasn't finished changing". #1 I guess that makes sense, but now my question is does it matter where you are in your recovery from your first breast augmentation to fix an issue? I want a defined crease like my left breast, will a revision hold better as time goes by due to more scar tissue? I'm feeling frustrated, I'm wondering if we went in there to fix it before the 6 month mark would be better. I'm considering getting a second opinion. I'm fearful that my PS will not be able to "fix me" even if he agrees to do it. SOrry now I am venting! Are you open to taking a look at a picture if I email you a photo? I understand you haven't seen me so you can't be very specific with your responses. I'm wondering if I should just wait till my 6th month mark to considering going to a 2nd opinion. What do you think? Thanks for "listening" and your time!!! I know it's alot!!! |

Dear Cubanita: If your breast are still changing you should wait. If you want a predictable result, you need to start with a stable beginning. Breast augmentations change and age with us. They are never truly fixed in time, but they change more during the first year. If your breast are still changing you are probably going to continue to change, and you want all the changes to be done before trying to fix anything. The trend, the changes between visits are more important than the snap-shots of the visits. So, while a picture would add information, unless there is some emergency (like the implant is exposed or leaking), it is best to wait. It can take a year for the "final" result to be revealed.
