HI DR.Mele, I wonder if you could tell if there is still a chance that if my plastic surgeon put my implant super high and it has been a month and it has not even moved at all if there is a chance that it could still drop? I feel it right uner my coller bone. I am 44 years old and I never had any kids. So I did have saggy breats. I had lost 45lbs so they hung some. I ws a small B and we went with saline under R-500 and L-485. We were hopig that the larger implant would help lift my own breast. So my plastic surgeon said that we will give it one more month and if we dont have any movement that he will have to de a redo and change the implnt out to a smaller one. I really dont want to do that. Of course who would. So I was hoping that you could tell me if you had seen this happen before. Thank you.

Dear Selena: It can take months for implants to settle. Waiting three months is reasonable. It can be hard to judge if there is any movement, so taking pictures is the best way to tell. If there is improvement, it is worth continuing to allow the improvement to occur. If there is no improvement, surgery is still an option. Implants fill more than they lift. If a breast is deflated, an implant will correct this. If a breast is sagging, especially when the nipple is lower than the inframammary fold, then a lift is usually needed. Lowering the implant can sometimes be enough to improve the lower pole of the breast, but this is something which requires an examination to determine.
