Hello Dr Pelletiere,
I had my second BA a week ago and since yesterday, I have a lump under one armpit. It's not visible but I can feel it with my fingers and it hurts when I press. I have no drains after my surgery and I have now hematoma both of under my stitches. Today I went to emergency and the dr there told me that this is normal and the thing under my armpit is a blood fluid and it would go away. I'm worried about an infection, could this be it? Thank you for your time. Senata |

It sounds like you have a hematoma under your transaxillary incision. Depending on the size, it may resolve on its own. It probably hurts from the pressure of the old blood in the tissues. If the area continues to enlarge, becomes red and extremely tender, or the incision begins to drain, these are signs that an infection is taking hold. Certainly see your plastic surgeon if any of these occur. However, it sounds like a little trapped blood and it should resolve on its own.

Hello again Dr Pelletiere,
Today when I woke up, most of these lumps were gone, only a tiny one left. It must be a small fluid like you said. I'm relieved now. Thank you for your time. Senata |
