![]() | adding cc's post ba
i had my breast augmentation done 4-27-09. i had my 5 wk post op today and i told my dr i wished i had went bigger. i'm sure they hear this all the time! which as a mom of 3 little ones i was trying to stay conservative. my question is how many more cc's could he add to my implant? i have mentor mod, saline unders, 375 filled to 425. i wouldn't think you could fit much more in it since it's already over filled right? well not enough to make a difference is what i'm getting at. thanks for your time! |

I think you have to have fillable because I dont know if there is an accesible "spout" if you will to fill up implants once the surgery is done. BUt maybe he could do another 50-75 cc?? Wouldnt give a noticeable change though.

my ps said at my visit today they could go in and add more to it 6 mo post. so i'm guessing there is a port or something for him to add to the existing implant w/o getting new ones.

I would wait it out anyway. A lot of people feel that way in the beginning. You have to give them a chance to drop. The final result is no way near done at 5 weeks. Its only the beginning. I totally felt the same way at 5 weeks. Now I am 6 months and they are still changing. Once in a while I wouldnt mind a little more upper pole but its okay. I can play them up or down. If you get them really big, you cant do that.

well i found the answer i think on the mentor site.... The saline breast implant is inflated with a saline (salt-water) solution through a valve. Saline is much like the fluid that makes up most of the human body. There are two types/families of Mentor implants filled with saline — one referred to as saline filled and the other referred to as Spectrum™ breast implants. The saline filled family of breast implants has a self-sealing valve located on the front (anterior) of the implant that is used for filling the device. The Spectrum™ family of breast implants have a valve on the back (posterior) of the implant that allows saline to be added after surgery (postoperative adjustability). Mentor's Spectrum implant is a saline breast implant that lets your physician adjust the size of your breasts after your breast augmentation surgery. In a simple office procedure, your physician can change your implant size by either adding or removing saline for up to six months after your surgery. so i guess i'll see when the time comes how much more he can add! |

![]() | Adding volume
You are absolutely correct about the Spectrum implant. However, most patients do not receive Spectrum implants. The regular saline filled variety can have volume added as well, but since there is not a port present, you have to open the incision back up, insert a fill tubing into the valve on the anterior surface of the valve, and add the desired amount of saline. Regarding your implant, it has a normal fill range of 375-425cc's, and I usually overfill this by about 10%, which would take you up to the 475-500cc range.
