Muscle Flex Deformity

Hello,

I am 1 year and 3 months post op. I have 350 cc's silicone, high profile, under the muscle, crease incision.

I started to notice a 'dent' in the clevage area of my left boob about 6 months ago, I asked my PS about it and he told me to wait until a year had passed. I went back just a couple weeks ago as it hasn't gotten any better, in fact, I would say it has gotten worse. Now, every time I flex my chest muscle, it looks as though my boob gets 'cut in half' right under the nipple. It is VERY evident unless I am wearing a shirt that completely covers me up. I am miserable! It also makes me nipple look funny b/c it goes with under it. My right boob does it a little as well.

My PS wants me to come back so that he can 'cut' the muscle and try to loosen it (I suppose). Is this a common fix for Muscle Flex Deformity? He said that if this doesn't work, that I should get them re-done over my muscle. I am going in next week to do this and I want to make sure that it is the right thing to do.

Please help! I am getting very frustrated and I don't like being self conscious about something that I paid a lot of money to be proud of

Any advice you can give me would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Muscle Flexion Deformity

Good afternoon,

The treatment you describe is an approach for the repair, and one that often works. I usually prefer to perform a capsulotomy or capsulectomy only, however, to preserve the muscle integrity, but maybe your PS has good experience with his or her approach.

Best Wishes,
Don Revis, MD
