lenght of surgery?

Dr Sorokin,

How long does it take you to do a standard frist time breast augmentation?No lift just implants?I've heard some doctors up to 3 hours and I've talked to two doctors that said 30 min. top!!How is it 30 mins. for some and 3 hours for others.When I ask the doctors this,the 30 min doctors.They said they know what size their using before they go in and they dont use sizers,so the planning is done before hand.Thats why it is so quick,and its under the muscel as well!Is that really possibile,I mean it sounds good the shortest amount of time your in surgery sounds like less risk to me,is that true?Thanks for your help.

my dr said under 1 hour for my overs!! total 3 hours from prep to recovery befor i leave the surgery center....

when is your surgery?Mine is July 7th!I'm so excited,but nervous and scared at the same time!

I just got mine done TODAY and he said it was about 35 minutes. But I woke up an hour later and sat in another room for another hour to eat and make sure I was good with the pain. We did all the planning and measuring ahead of time so he just had to disect and place. THe less time you are under the better you feel. The only thing I feel right now is super stretched out.

I arrived @ 8:30am and was home by 12:00. Dosent take too long unless there are complications or another procedure. Good luck!

the procedure itself took my PS 15 min, under the muscle... but every doctor does it differently... hth!

I do not know why it takes some surgeons 3 hours to do a primary straight forward augmentation. Perhaps he chats with the nurses and sings to his ipod? I don't understand why it would take that long. It typically takes me about 45 minutes to do both sides. Sometimes I drink a little extra starbucks and it only takes 40 minutes. Sometimes it is a little bit more difficult and it can take an hour. My goal is to get everything perfect and if it takes an extra two hours then so be it. Practice makes perfect and when you do something over and over you get quick at it I suppose. I live by the "take time where it counts and don't waste time when it doesn't" philopsophy. I do not want patients under anesthesia for one minute more than necessary. I go slow where it counts, and quickly where it doesn't. I know of a surgeon nearby me that takes easily 3-4 hours for every breast augmentation. His results are average and it is simply a large time in the OR for the same result. On the other hand, 15 minute OR times are impossible. If that is what you are being told then it means one doctor is doing one side and another doctor is doing the other side simultaneously. I know of some doctors that team up and do this. It is common in training programs. I believe it is impossible for two different people (even if they had the EXACT same training) to get symmetric results when operating in such a manner. I doubt there is any way a surgeon can safely and accurately do both sides in that short a period of time.
