![]() | Breast tenderness almost 6 mos P.O.
Hi there, I had my breast augmentation on 2-26-09. My implants are saline under the muscle. My operation and recovery went very smoothly and I am very satisfied w/ my results. I had no complications and have been for several P.O. follow ups w/ my PS -all have been normal. I'm posting because for the past 2 weeks or so I've noticed significant tenderness in my left breast. Mostly underneath and then up in the cleavage area. I have no redness or swelling and my breast is soft and the implant moves around nicely. I contacted my PS today just because it is really bugging to the point of taking 2 advil for the pain. The nurse in the office told me it sounded like nothing and was probably unrelated to my surgery. I guess that I think this is a result of my underwire bras. Prior to this tenderness I was wearing them 24/7. Since I have been taking them off at night and sleeping without one altogether. Today I switched to a non-underwire bra in hopes of that helping. Sorry this is so long, I just want to be sure that I am not missing something. Is it possible to have an infection at this point in my recovery? I also wanted to add that in general my breasts are kind of numb. Is it possible that this tenderness is some type of nerve regeneration? Thank you in advance. I just don't want to miss something that might be serious. |

I don't believe you should have pain or discomfort at 6 months. By now the implants should feel as if they are part of you. Nerve regeneration should not explain the discomfort. I would make an appointment to see your doctor. While it may be unrelated, it is worth a quick office visit.... Good luck!

Dr. Sorokin: I bookmarked this thread because I occasionally have tenderness and was curious to see what your response would be. Although like the orig. post, mine has not just started but rather comes and goes. I am inclined to think that it is due to monthly cycle. Before my breast augmentation I would get tender and that "apparently" has not changed. I have not asked my PS about this because I assume that is what it is, would you say that it is not unheard of for this to continue happening "after" augmentation as well? Didn't mean to hi-jack kdvino's thread, just thought I'd ask since tenderness was the subject. Thank you.

If you had tenderness with your cycles preop there is no reason that you would not continue to have this tenderness with monthly cycles postop.
