hematoma and cc

I want to start off by saying that last month I made my first trip to NY! I had the time of my life too! NY is an awesome place!!!!

Nine years ago I had breast augmentation. Immed. after waking up in the recovery room they noticed that I had a hematoma. I was then placed under again and the implant was removed, bleeding contolled, and implant placed back in. My questions are

1- Do you think the hematoma was the cause of the cc?

2- What type of infections in life would cause a cc?

3- I work in the dental field, so could the aerosoles from cleaning teeth cause me to get cc?

I am not really sure when the capsule formed and this is why:
I had breast assymetry (sp?) and only one implant was placed. My left breast is natural and the right is saline. I have always noticed a difference in how they felt because one is real and one is not, but am not sure when the right became firm. I have been to 3 diff. ps and each of them stated i have cc. I really want a re-do but am terrified of cc again. That's why I was curious to know if you think the hematoma is what caused the cc. Thank you so much for your time!

Causes of Fibrous Capsular Contracture

Fibrous capsular contracture is not completely understood by scientists, but is known to be caused by a variety of things, including how you individually heal and your genetics. That being said, hematoma is one of the more well-understood causes/ predictors of future FCC, as is breast infection from bugs such as Staph and Strep.

I doubt aerosols from you performing teeth cleaning have much to do with your FCC, hopefully you wear a mask if there is a lot of aerosolization during your job. Interestingly, on the flipside of that, when a patient with implants has their teeth cleaned, many plastic surgeons including myself recommend a short course of antibiotics to guard against infection or bacteria seeding the implant which may occur after the transient bacteremia (bacteria in the bloodstream) from an invasive dental cleaning. People with other types of prosthetics such as artificial heart valves are also cautioned to do the same thing with a short course of antibiotics.
