I went too big....what should I do now?
Dr. Walden,
I had my 1st BA surgery over a year ago and got 475cc's moderate round-saline implants put in under the muscle, which made me go from a 34B to a 34DD. What I was aiming for was a full C/small D. I am unhappy with the results and want to go smaller. I am 5'0 tall and weigh between 115-120lb. I want to get a redo but I am nervous that it is going to look terrible when they replace the larger implants for a smaller ones. Do you typically find that a lift is required after a year of surgery, if your patient wants to go down in size? Also, I heard something about having to stitch up the sides so that the implant does not go into the armpit? Is that true? And finally, do you think a 300cc-325cc would do the trick? Your expert advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for your time! |

Downsizing implants
Those are all difficult questions to answer without examining you. It just depends on you tissues and the amount of ptosis or laxity that you have when you go down in size for if you need a lift. Closing the sides (lateral capsule repair) is generally done so that the implants won't shift over into the armpits and so the smaller implants will be better accomodated.
