On-Q Pain Pump...

Hi,
Could you please tell me your thoughts on the "On-Q Pump"? Are there any possible risks with the pump or is it pretty much safe to use?

Are pain pumps necessary?

Hi,
I do not use pain pumps for breast augmentation, simply because I do not think that breast augmentation when performed meticulously causes a tremendous amount of pain. My patients state that they are pleasantly surprised with how "do-able" it was and pain meds were unnecessary after about 2 or 3 days. I also don't like the idea of using a drain or a pump for a breast augmentation as it serves as a source of infection with the plastic conduit into the breast implant pocket.

Hope this helps,
Dr Walden
