Staged procedure

Dr. Wallach,

I had my consult the other day and the surgeon said that because of severe asymmetry (2-3 cups size difference) and grade IV ptosis in the larger that the breasts should be lifted and excess tissue removed from the larger breast in the first procedure and then go back in 3 months later and put in implants. He is willing to do the lift and augmentation at the same time, but would rather stage it. He also said that either way I was most likely going to need a revision in ~6 months once everything settled. I know every surgeon is different but I am wondering is doing the breasts as a staged procedure and then even if it is staged is having to have a revision fairly common? Just seemed a bit odd to me. Thanks in advance.

It's like you stated, every surgeon is different. I would suggest that you go on a few more consultations, see what they think and which one you agree with most.

This is not uncommone. It souns like you have a significant asymmetry. I usually will lift and reduce the larger breast and put an implant on the smaller one to match in the same operative setting. However, caution is a safe way to go.
