Another CC Question

Sorry to bother you again, but is it possible for Grade III capsular contracture to reverse or lessen without surgery? Even though I didn't think it would do any good, I started doing some compression yesterday (laying on the floor on my stomach, putting my weight on each breast for a minute at a time, a few minutes per day) and I immediately noticed that they feel MUCH softer. They are still high and probably not as soft as they should be, but the difference is definitely significant (in just 2 days!). Can that happen with CC?

I am 6 weeks PO CC repair with a grade III/IV. I wanted to test something, so I went an entire day without compression and ust did my massage with my hands. Wont do that again, I was firm and it was tough getting it to soften up but I did again with compression. I believe in compression exercises, which I never did prior to my revision. I say "It cant hurt so go for it". There was a girl on here that reversed grade III CC with compression and massage...its possible! GO FOR IT.

Quite honestly, I never heard of laying on your implants for compression before. I am not sure if this is recommended by the implant manufacturer in terms of warranty. I usually just recommend massage only. If you have Grade III contracture, I doubt this will significantly help. If it does long term, I would be interested to know. Thanks.

Yep, I have read a lot of posts by women doing compression by laying on their implants. They either lay on the floor or lay on their belly with their implants on hard book. Some seem to swear by it and attribute it to reversing the course of cc.

Don't you think it would be advisable to have the integrity of the implant checked out by a MRI prior to home treatments for the Capsular Contracture?

If the capsule has formed in your breast because of a leak....... laying on the floor would only make the matter worse!!!!!!

I tend to doubt that this is the case because #1, my implants are only 3 months old, #2, there are no signs of deflation, and #3 what are the odds that I would happen to have leaks in BOTH implants at the same time? My plastic surgeon has never mentioned this as a possibility after examining me, either. I don't think I'd want to pay out of pocket for an MRI that is probably not necessary. From what I've heard/read, implants are able to withstand a good amount of pressure, so I don't see how this could really hurt.

If laying on implants is reason to suspect a rupture, then we all have bigger problems than CC! I was instructed to "man-handle" the implants at my plastic surgeon office; in addition, there are quite a few videos on you tube illustrating the toughness of implants. It is actually quite impressive how tough they are. So despite how unlikely it is that 2 implants rupture so soon after a ba, I find it impossible to believe implants are so fragile, we are unable to lay on our belly.

Woah ladies chill!

Mom3,
You completely misunderstood my post. I am not suggesting laying on your stomach would injure the implant! If the implant has a small leak though, laying on them doing these various compression techniques would tend to cause further leakage. IF....... the BIG IF.
If you are SURE it is just scar tissue! GO right ahead and work it! (w/ Dr.'s OK)

I am very aware of the strength and structure of silicone implants. They are virtually indestructible. But, they are man made and therefore not perfect.

I am saying that for the layman, trying to self correct your "possible" CC would not be advisable unless you had a definite diagnosis. If your Dr. is sure, go right ahead and do whatever you are told to do! By all means!

I am only erring on the side of caution because of my personal experience with CC. With my CC, I was told not to touch them until we found out for sure! But then again Unlike KIM my implants were not 3 months old when they went stage 3 on me in a matter of a few weeks!

scoobeedo- I guess I should have made it clear that I have already seen my plastic surgeon and he told me I have grade 3 CC. I didn't even suspect that I had it until I went in for my 3-month appointment. I thought the pockets were just too high.

Our plan is to do an open capsulectomy, but in the meantime I am giving compression a shot. I figure, at the least it might prevent it from getting worse and potentially painful before I have my redo. I don't really have anything to lose.

No worries, I'm completely chilled I don't think I misunderstood your post, but I was responding to a combination of your post and Kim2884 original post. It sounded to me like the plastic surgeon had already made a diagnosis; therefore, possibly using compression was not a concern as it relates to rupture. Of course, all suspected complications should be ruled out before trying new "treatments." Even if no complications are suspected, I would certainly advocate checking with your plastic surgeon before using supplements, meds, massage, exercises, types of bras, etc., etc. that one may have read about others using on this board. It was somewhat in gest saying CC is not an issue if we should all be concerned about double rupture implants within the first year of surgery. Of course nothing man-made is perfect, and it sounds as if the poster has already addressed that with her plastic surgeon.

What about Yoga to stop cc?

This might be ridiculous but may Yoga can help with CC because you're totally stretching out everything and possibly break the cc with a crazy stretch!?

I was instructed to massage and lay on my implants, as your doing, first on a bed, then on the ground a few weeks later, by my plastic surgeon. I never really did it, just massaged, but lately I have been doing compression on my right boob because its tight. I actually prfer to lean into a wall next to a doorway, push my right boob into the wall, and reach my left atm through the door and onto the other side of the wall and hold on (if you can follow that lol)! I can push harder by doing this
