How much do revisions cost?

Hey Girlies ~

I am new here so bear with me ~ I've been reading everyone's posts and everyone seems so nice and helpful which is why I registered ~ After reading about how common it seems that revisions are done...how much does it cost on average?? ~ My breast augmentation procedure is just about $4k ...so I was just HOPING in case something goes wrong...it won't cost an arm and a leg... :/

Thanx,

Okay thank you ~ I'm just so worried as time comes closer to the surgery date and learning about everything that could go wrong?? I'm mainly worried about rippling...and the implant showing through along with bottoming out... :X

Is it true..that if something (God forbids) does go wrong...that it is always fixable??

You should ask the surgeons you consult with what their revision policies are. I can assure you they are all different. If you go to a new surgeon for a revision it will more than likely cost more than going to your original surgeon. Make sure you go to ABPS certified surgeons and you will drastically lower your chances of risks/complications due to surgeon error.

I am having a revision on Sept 17. on right side...implant has never dropped,so my PS has to go back in and release the capsule and hopefully everything will be right. He's not charging for his services, but I have to pay $425 for anesthesia and $425 for the OR.When I met with him yesterday I asked him what if this didn't correct the problem?Would I have to come back in and pay another $850?He said no.I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will be the last of it.

Unfortunatley you do always have to be prepared mentally, physically, and financially if something happens. I have no experience in this myself, but Ive seen many women here whose surgeon will work out something w them like Phall mentioned where she only has to pay the anesth. and OR fees. Theres been other ladies whose surgeons obviously made a mistake and covered the whole revision. Just be sure that you and you PS are clear about his revision policies.

You should talk to your PS about it. Make sure you are comfortable with him/her. Thats very important. Also make sure that they are caring and concerned for you, and your wants.

Yeah....that's very important...I feel comfortable with this PS because he's very caring and concerned and will only do what he knows your body can handle ~ I know because I was personally referred to him and seen the results of a friend ~ the only thing is...I'm not too clear on a few things...and worried about possible revisions...maybe I will just speak to my consultant

However, I am going to another PS tomorrow morning...Dr. Shamoun ( which I saw you mention him in another post ..I was like heyy..small world hehe ) ~ I found him on the web about a month ago and he seems totally awesome ~ I just want to see his opinion and compare it to the PS i'm pretty sure I'm going with ~ I know he's expensive but hey who knows..it may be worth it ...

Wink

Dr. Shamoun was really informative when i saw him. I liked him alot but he was very high priced, for a symmastia repair. And that what I need to have done. But I do wish i would have went to him for my original breast augmentation. Good-luck!!
He was also very easy to get a hold of, I talked to him on the phone a couple of times and he also called me on my cell too, that was really nice. Let me know how it goes!!

that's good to know ... thanx ~ he IS very nice and I REALLY want to go to him...the only thing is the high price BUT I've been thinking alot and it may just be worth it since he is so extremely qualified ~ and yes he is easy to get ahold of....I was shocked when I first emailed him (I thought I was emailing the office) to request his starting price and he personally emailed me back with the quote and said I could call his office to schedule an appointment ~ I have another PS appointment tomorrow afternoon just to see how much this PS is charging and to see what he says as well...It's funny because it's in the same building as Dr. Shamoun ~ I actually have quite a few appointments in that building hehe ~

thank you again though for your input on Dr Shamoun ~ it totally reassures me

It would depend on the surgeon, and if it's a revision to just go larger, or if it's due to a complication. It varies alot from surgeon to surgeon...
My revision cost $1,700. I bottomed out, so my ps waived his fees, and I only paid for the anesthesia and OR cost.

ok thank you ~ I was reading over the papers my PS gave me and it says that if anything were to go wrong during the first year Post Op that it wouldn't cost anything except for the hospital room and anesthesia ..which I believe it said somewhere between $1200-$1600 ~ I can't remember exactly ~ I guess that's not too bad ~ I always think of the worse possible scenario which is bad because it ends up scaring the hell out of me hehe ~ Just hopefully nothing goes wrong after the first year then ....YIIIIKES ~ I don't know how i'd pay for it :/
