Drains - questions

How much fluid comes out of these? How often do you have to check them? Does the doctor remove them? Ohhhh I should've asked my doc but now he's on vacation for the next 2 weeks! Hoping some of you have experiences to share on this.

Atomic will become famous soon enough
Mine drained about 50 ml from each side, the nurse removed them before I left the hospital (I had surgery at 8am and left at 6pm) so I didn't need to do anything with them

Galore is on a distinguished road
I don't have any personal experience with drains but I have seen them on patients. I'm sure it will vary, but it's not like fluid should be gushing out or anything and they're usually the size of your fist (the ones I've seen called Jackson-Pratt look like hand grenades to me). In postop patients their drains often only need to be changed once per shift.

You can still call yor Doctor's office and speak to the nurse. Unless the office is totally shut down the Doc is on vocation.
