![]() | capsular contracture redo scheduled
I am scheduled 11/17 for my redo. I cannot wait. My breast is getting more and more uncomfortable. I was wondering for those who have used bromelain, when they started taking it? The ps receptionist said just to start eating pineapple a week before surgery. Since bromelain is an aggregate...could your blood become to thin prior to surgery, increasing the chance of bleeding. I really think that is why I got cc on the one side. It was horribly bruised compared to the other. Who knows. Also he told me he would give me singular. He doesn't sound to excited about it. I'm just thinking it can't hurt. Do you wait and take that after the surgery because of the anti-inflammatory effect? Did anybody use ice packs after surgery? All I know is that I cannot wait to get this "brick" out of my boob!!! For right now he is just planning on doing a capsulotomy. If there is already calcifications he will have to do another capsulectomy. I just want to be out of pain. Any advice/encouragement would be more than welcome. Thanks everybody for being here.

Hi Terry! I'm glad your redo is finally just around the corner. But I would STRONGLY advise you to talk to your PS re your capsulotomy as I think and have been told by others that it's not very effective and the recurrance rate is very high. Exhibit A: Moi. It's back and with a vengeance: it took only about 6 wks to resurface this time. My PS claims to have done a partial capsulectomy but if I knew then what I know now I would have demanded a FULL capsulectomy in which the whole implant is removed. Good luck and please keep me posted.

I took Accolate after my redo (I had cc twice). I didn't take it BEFORE surgery though. I don't really see what the benefit would be of doing that. I've never taken bromelain, so I can't help there, but I do NOT believe in taking ANYTHING that thins the blood, especially if you're having surgery to correct cc.

Hey Terry! I was wondering how you were doing; your redo was yesterday, wasn't it? Hope you're doing alright---I've got my fingers crossed that this surgery did the trick!

It wasn't to to painful. I went to work today. Not sure that was to bright...but I made it. They almost look alike. No bruising yet. I had forgotten how uncomfortable it is when you roll from side to side when sleeping. Or should I say "not" sleeping!!

I know what you mean. AFter my revision, it was like i had to relearn everything. But the redo recovery is a lot easier and I went to work on a Monday after a Friday surgery as well!! Not fun but doable. Glad you're okay and I hope you get the results you want!!

Glad your redo went well! Ugh, I still have vivid memories of the pained attempts at sleep. That was the worst part of it for me! I saw you're in the Panhandle, me, too! I'm just LOVING that we have Autumn this year!!! Are you enjoying it? |
