Red face Capsular Contracture AGAIN!!!!!!! 2nd time around need support/advice

I just found out that I have my second cc in my right breast. The first time it took 5 months to form and diagnose. Im not even 6 weeks po this time!!!!

I had my first surgery and implant placement on February 15, 2012. Then diagnosed with a capsule in my right breast in July 2012.

Had a revision to remove capsule on February 18, 2013 after accolade didn't work.

Now on March 28th my PS said capsule has formed AGAIN. Any suggestion on treatment? I don't want to have surgery again and risk this happening a 3rd time!. My left is perfect by the way. : )

Has anyone here treated a CC without surgery? If so what can I do? I've been massaging like crazy and its sooo sore. I want to actively attack this.

Please share if you have any suggestions or if you had a cc and was ale to treat it and get rid of it. What exactly did you ? This is so painful and frustrating.

I am so disappointed that this has happened ended agin! What can I do? Should I be taking vitamin E or anything? If so how much? Anything else?

Dod you have a brand new implant or did you re-use the old implant? I heard that you have a bigger chance of cc not coming back if you have a new implant put it.

Im soo worried about this because as of now I have a cc in my right breast and planning on having a revision and upgrade. I hope to God that cc doesnt re-occur.

Keep massaging! Good luck and i hope you can get rid of this stubborn thing!

Hey sorry to hear...my doctor prescribed me Singulair. It's an allergy medication but I guess they find it helps with CC. Ask your PS, or do your own research. My PS specializes in implants specifically. Every PS is different, so I'd check it out. Good luck.

Unhappy C. Contractured in North Carolina

Thank you so much. My doctor gave me accolate. He used the same implant so now I'm wondering if that has contributed to it reoccurring. I am doing massages every 30-45 minutes and I'm taking the accolate twice a day hoping it helps. I read here about vitamin e. I wonder if I should start that too? What types of massage places can I go to or the special breast massages. I'm going to have to look into that! Someone here mentioned it. I supposed they need to be familiar with implants and such. I wish I went to a of that specialized in implants.

My right breast dont want to drop as fast as my lefty. He never say anything about cc but he want me to drink 800mg of vitamin e and massage twice a day. Im sorry to hear that you are going through this. Hopefully is over soon.

Did any of u girls get CC even with the Keller funnel? They say it's suppose to reduce the risk by a great deal just wondering if it's more of a marketing sceam.

I just had my appt. This morning, one year after original implant replacement, five months after revision on right side for CC. Right side is noticeably firmer feeling. He prescribed singular today. I massage like crazy even though I have an area that's painful. I don't want a third surgery. Does singular ever work? I need to drop about an inch. I am determined to break it down if possible without more surgery.

I feel your pain. I had cc in my right breast twice too. Both times it was diagnosed pretty early. The second time I had surgery, I had a complete redo and switched to saline. I took Accolate as a preventative, and I massaged like crazy. I didn't vacuum, lift bags of groceries, lift loads of laundry, etc., for 6 weeks. I didn't take anything that thins the blood (such as ibuprofen, aspirin, vitamin E, etc.) for 6 weeks. I was VERY careful, and it worked. I had another redo and switched back to silicone, and I followed these same steps, and never had a problem with cc.

I had my first surgery at 6 months post-op. The second time around, I waited a year. My surgeon believes that at some point, the capsule stablizes (or stops tightening, etc.). Anyway, he suggested I wait a year. I didn't love the idea, but after having had it twice, I was willing to try anything. I'm not sure if it made a difference, but I never got it again.

There's really not much you can do without surgery. Unfortunately, most all cc cases require it.

Oh thank you Nikki, I have been very careful too, and worn the strap for a year now...but I knew very early that the revision wasn't working...the implant came down some...but not like the left. Singular is expensive, but I realize I will likely have to save money for another surgery. I haven't been able to buy a bra since I got them as it doesn't fit right. I have always massaged and didnt even lift weights at the gym thinking it might do something...lol. I wish it didn't, look so odd,...another summer looking uneven even in a regular top. So frustrating! I am glad to hear you never got it again...it gives me hope!

Oh yeah, I wore a strap too. Actually, I wore two straps at once for two months. It was akin to medieval torture. I took two tank-style sports bras and cut them just above the elastic band that fits underneath your boobs, and I wore them constantly. My cc caused my boob to move upward on my chest so that it was practically in my collar bone. It wasn't cute, especially since I had to live with it during the summer months, and then spring months, and into the beginning of summer AGAIN. UGH.

I would look into taking Accolate. It's a little different than Singular. Can't hurt. Also, look into ultrasound. I'm not sure how expensive it is, but it can't hurt to try it.

I wish you look, hon!

Does your doc use the Keller Funnel? If not, I would tell him he may want to look into it. I think it reduces the risk of cc since the implant (in particular, silicone) doesn't have to rub up against your skin while it's being inserted.

I'm sorry to hear this is happening to you. I had a similar problem with my 2nd bout of CC. It came on just 11 days post-op. I've decided to explant on June 12th as I just can't keep putting money into my boobs. Good luck, I know how frustrating and disappointing it is.

How early did you all start massaging? Did you massage after you were diagnosed with CC or were you doing it the whole time. My PS hasnt mentioned anything about massaging.

What about switching to textured implants? They are suppose to reduce the chances of cc? I know it's not an easy thing to do just up and switch:-(. So sorry you are going through this:-(

My ps spotted cc at my 4wk check up. He prescribed me singular I also stared taking 800 mg of vitamin e & fish oil along with ibuprofen for pain. My implant was hard as a rock & very painful. I'm now 8wks post op & my right side has dropped and finally feeling squishy. Instead of massaging try squeezing the implant. I had my husband squeeze the ***** out of it. I also lie on my tummy and put a lot of pressure on the implant. I hope this helps

I have reoccurring CC on my left side and new CC on my right. Unfortunately there is no cure for CC, ans surgery is pretty much the only option especially if the CC is bad enough..accolate (in my case) did absolutely nothing!! I now have a new PS performing my revision and he suggests stratisse. According to him the stratisse will prevent the capsule from tightening around the implant and he has confidence that this will work! He says he's 98% confident.. I'm hoping this works because its my last option.. My surgery is May 3rd so if u want to friend request me and keep in touch I can let u know how it goes..

I'm so sorry that is happening to you. My PS told me that I didn't have the option to use the same implant because it would increase the risk of CC coming back. I wonder if you have any recourse with your PS. Mine told me he would re-use the one that was fine because I wanted to also switch to unders from overs but even with that I opted for new ones just to be safe. When he went in to do the revision he found no CC but lots of "other" scar tissue on the good side and said it was a good thing I decided on new ones. Is there any chance your pocket just wasn't made big enough on that side? Was it perfect and soft? and then got tighter? I can't imagine knowing for sure so early on. Did he do an MRI to measure the thickness of the scar tissue? I'm in denial on your behalf, maybe it's just a pocket issue... how can he be sure it's CC?

Be careful not to injure your capsule. They used to manually 'break it' by squeezing but what has been discovered is that you end up with an injury inside, bruising, internal bleeding and you can make the CC progress faster once you have an injury. I got a tear in my capsule, the pocket tore due to compression when I had CC and someone picked me up and gave me a tight hug. It was painful and it bruised, but after that the CC squeezed the implant up through the tear and then there was a visible lump! You want to massage it to keep it as soft as possible, but don't pop it!
