"Bottoming out" in Atlanta

Hi all...I have slightly bottomed out on both sides. I had my implants put fully under the muscle 375 filled to 380 1 year ago. I bottomed out very quickly. My surgeon told it was from me lifting my arms and that he would charge me again. I really don't think I lifted my arms so does anyone have any suggestions on how to approach him waiving his surgeons fee? Also, does anyone have a reference in Atlanta GA in case I have to go to another PS? If they have successful "bottoming out" revision experience that would be great. Thanks so much for all your help.

Hi Steff,

Welcome to the forum. How long after your breast augmentation did you notice you were bottoming out? I would suggest that you wear a supportive bra as much as you can so it doesn't get any worse before you can have it repaired.

My PS is Dr. Keith West in Marietta.

No I don't think it does happen that way or at least that is not the most common reasons for bottoming out...thus my concern with him. He put the blame on me and than said he would have to recharge me. He never mentioned over dissection of the pocket or implants being to heavy. Thanks to the post above about the bra suggestion. In terms of when it happened...I am not so sure my scars were ever actually in the crease. I can see it on my 6 month photos. I don't think it is really bad but it bugs me. One good thing is they are bottomed out pretty equally on both sides so they look even. Thanks again...

by bottoming out, do you mean you have some sag? I'm 42 and I can go without a bra, but I feel that when I wear an underwire, I do have that little bit of pushup. I am almost 6 months postop, but notice that when I wear a bra without underwire, my boobs look like they sag a bit. Now I'm worried

Hi, i am also bottoming out on both sides. Mine are even as well, so they don't look bad. When did you first notice they were bottoming out? I noticed mine about 4-5 months post-op, and in my case it was due to the weight of my implant, and weak crease.....I got 390's, but started a small A.

I am sorry that you are having to face a redo. Good luck with your search for a new ps.
I have to say I am confused. I had no idea that bottoming out could occur from doing normal things, like raising your arms, and not wearing a bra. My ps has told me not to wear a bra to help them drop. I know I have to follow what my ps reccomends for me, but reading all of the posts there are so many different reccomendations for the same issues.

Thanks to everyone...by bottoming out I mean my scars are not in the fold (higher on my breast) and my nipples seem high on the breast mound instead of being in the middle. I noticed it pretty quickly after surgery and can def. see it in my 6 month photos. Again, I don't think lifting arms is the main reason for bottoming out. The main reasons I have read about are 1)overdisection of the pocket 2)implants being to heavy 3)skin elasticity.
Has anyone out there had a redo they can tell me about? I heard the chance for reoccurance can be high. How long until you could go back to work etc.
I am not sure if not wearing a bra can cause it but I have heard if it is happening wearing a good bra can help it not get worse.

I would ask him to explain how he thinks lifting your arms causes bottoming out. I mean, seriously? Were you supposed to go around with your arms down all the time???? Lifting your arms is NOT a cause of bottoming out so he needs to get his facts straight.

If he doesn't fix them and waive his fees and continues to insists it's your arm lifting.... I'd report him to someone. Maybe the board????

And then go see another PS. I've heard it's a pretty easy surgery to get permanent sutures put in.

Good luck... I hope you get things straightened out!

bottoming out

Have you seen this info from the main site?

i got your email, but thought i would respond here, in case others wanted more info. we do sound very similiar. I saw my ps about 2 months ago, and he wanted me to wait about 3-6 more months to give my crease a chance to build up more scar tissue so he can attach permanet sutures. My next visit is on Jan. 3rd to reevaluate me and see when i can have the revision. Thankfully he is waiving his fees, but of course i still have to pay for surgery and anesthisia fees. He usually waives his fees for complications up to a yr. after surgery. Until my revision, i'm under strict orders to wear a good underwire supportive bra 24/7 , which really sucks!! lol
Are you having permanent sutures put in to? Do you know when you might have them redone? When did you first notice that this was happening? I would love to keep in touch too with each others progression.....Are you having to wear a bra 24/7 too? sorry for the questions, but it's nice (i don't mean that in a bad way) to know someone else is going through the same thing.....xoxo
