![]() | Anyone have this minor complication?
Just wondering if anyone experienced these rashes that I have been getting. When my body temperature is raised due to exercise or something strenous, I get all these rashy blotches all over my body, from chest to arms and legs and crotch area to face and neck. They itch like crazy. The rashes go away when I cool down and rest, in about 15 - 30 minutes. And I sometimes get rashes on both hands and feet -- this hand and feet rash happens spontaneously. It is mildly itchy also and goes away within five minutes or so. I am attributing this "condition" to the breast implants because prior to the surgery, I didn't get this. If this is a minor allergic reaction to the implants, I will live with it. It isn't serious enough for me to want them out by any means.

My first thought was heat rash? But then again if it occurs sometimes out of the blue who knows? Sorry I cannot help you here, but maybe this will bumo it up for others to see.

Gosh, dunno. I'd call your PS and ask them. Be sure they understand you never experienced this prior to your breast augmentation. GL, and keep us updated...you've got me curious

![]() | Will ask my ps at my next appt
At my next appt coming up next week, I'll ask him if he's ever heard about someone with breast implants developing rashes like I have whenever my body temp is higher. I didn't want to bring up the rashes at previous appt's because I wasn't sure what was causing them. There's a slim chance that it is something else, but I doubt it now. Everything else (laundry detergent is same, body lotions are the same, no allergies to animals present, etc.) I've ruled out except for the breast implants. But I love the implants otherwise!

![]() | Could be an underlying yeast infection. I developed a yeast infection from the antibiatics, all over body rash, caught mine right away, as I know I'm prone to them on anitbiotics. Just a thought. |

I doubt it is from the implants because if it were the rash would be there all the time and getting worse. There are so many environmental factors that you have no control over that could be causing this or something you used to use is now bothering you. For example I wore latex exam gloves all the time and one day I started to get random rashes etc. I thought it was the latex but it was actually something else used in the process of making the gloves. Over time you body can change how it reacts to things. If it is bothering you I would make an appt with your family doctor and if needed get tested for allergies. GL |

I too have super itchy rashes on both breasts. I'm 15 days post op and am also nervous I may be allergic to the implants. I think I've been reading too much online about the adverse effects of silicone and driving myself crazy! I'm thinking some ppl may just be more sensitive or could be allergic to silicone, while others aren't. I had post op visit with my PS yesterday and he says no, I'm not allergic to the implants. But I've never had rashes or allergies before. He thinks it might be contact dermatitis or something, but he doesn't know. Could you keep me updated on your condition and what your PS said about it?

![]() | My appt will be on Nov. 6th so we'll see what the surgeon says
I pretty much "know" what my surgeon will say (he's a logical fellow but has a good sympathetic manner), something along the line of there's no scientific studies of allergies to implants and da da da. But I know I didn't get rashes like these rashes before I had the implants in my body. I've never been allergic to latex (husband use latex condoms since we were married) and silicone before. I know there are lots of silicone derivatives in makeup and facial cream. I have switched laundry detergents, body creams, and even allergy meds to rule out any allergies. So far nothing has been pinpointed. I changed face creams. Now I am trying to rule out allergies to aluminum in trying to figure this out. If the surgeon does not offer any good suggestions on how to "live with" my rashing whenever it is hot or I get hot, I will make appt with an allergist at Kaiser. It is not that that bad. When I am rashing, it just makes me blotchy and red and comical because I am scratching all over like I have fleas. It doesn't feel funny when I get the rashes though. This itching is different from the itching and scratching from the initial breast augmentation recovery, which I did have from @1st-3rd week. The recovery itching was concentrated around my breasts. These rashes are everywhere (face down to legs).

![]() | Heat rash?
My Nov. 6th appt with the surgeon yielded nothing too positive. He believes what I am describing is a heat rash. He says it is probably not due to the implants. But I have been googling "heat rash breast implants" and "hives breast implants" and they've resulted in message boards and forums with posts from women with similar stories. Only most of these stories are much worse than mine. Errr... I hope my hives don't swell up my lips and eyes. So far they just go away when I cool down. Maybe the allergist would know?

Yes, an allergist should def be able to help you!! I have had some hives too, but I think they are due to some food allergy..

well how long did you wait to start workin out again after your breast augmentation? because sometimes when i take a long break and then get into working out again i get the same thing... what it is is when you start working out again all the new blood flow makes your veins expand which makes you look red. it is very itchy and hot to the touch... your body will eventually get used to it... i got it a lot in my legs.

![]() | Good Luck!
I too have been reading alot about rashes lately. I have also been reading about the platinum in the silicone shells leaking into the lipid rich breast tissue. Have you thought abuot this as a possbility? It could be likely that you have a silicone allergy just from the outer silicone shell of your saline implants. I have been trying to become very informed before getting these implants. The platinum leakage is somewhat frightening. Maybe mention this to the allergist? Let me know, and I really hope your rash is just something having to do with the way your training. Have you thought about the stuff at the gym your working out in? Maybe they started using something new to clean? |
