itchy rash

I'm sooo scared I may be allergic to my silicone implants. I'm driving myself crazy researching online about silicone and rashes. I am 15 days post op and developed an itchy rash 8 days out on both breasts. At first I thought it may be a heat rash, but now I don't think so. I saw my PS yesterday and he thinks it might be contact dermatitis. He told me to stop wearing the surgical bra. So last nite I slept with it off and went braless today. My rash has spread to my cleavage area and is itchy as hell. I put a topical anti-itch cream on the rash and now have an ice pack on them which seems to help with the itch. The rash is red and warm. My PS said it wasn't an infection. Anybody else have problems with itchy rashes? I'm scared.

Oh gosh hun, I don't know. I think it's far more likely that you are allergic to something that was in contact with your skin there...latex, betadine, bandage? What's your surgical bra made from?

Hi! did they use any kind of surgical tape? After I had my csection I had a very itchy rash all over the incision. I'm sorry to say it lasted longer than I had hoped. I can't remember exactly as there was so much else going on but I want to say 4-6 weeks minimum. I figured it was either due to the surgical tape or the cleanser they used. I have heard here and there of other people complaining of this. It was bad enough that I told my PS about it and asked him not to use surgical tape b/c of it. He said that most likely was the cause of the problem and that he would use something else. Sounds like that is what you have. To be honest I'd be surprised if it were the implants. Hope it goes away soon!

I did develop a rash on my right CC breast at about 6 weeks post op it was really weird for I had been doing my aggressive massage on a thursday and I noticed it a little that day thinking HMM boobs a little red I must be overdoing it so I laid off the massage the rest of that day but by the next morning it was flaming red and it spread up into my armpit and to my cleavage and all over my right breast well I ended up seeing my ps that day he was clueless I like you asked him if I could be allergic to the implants since I have allergys but he said no, gave me a medrol-dose pac which over the next week helped but it did not clear it, to make my long story short it took my rash almost a month to clear and a prescription of triamcinolone cream to make it go away I thought it would never clear and yes mine itched terrible we also before this cream tried antifungal creams. Hope you get better soon

I did have steri strips on my incisions for 5 days. I do have redness around the incisions but I have it all over both breasts as well. I'm still hoping it's an allergic reaction from my surgical bra since it's made of synthetic fiber I believe. Plus, I know I sweated in it while I was sleeping since it was hot so also hoping it may be a heat rash. My rash still hasn't gone away so I made an appt for next Saturday with an allergist. I'll keep you updated on what he says. Thanks to all who responded!

I developed a rash over my entire chest about 2 weeks after my breast augmentation. my surgeon told me it was common and nothing to worry about. after about 3 weeks it was completely gone.

Have you tried Benadryl cream or hydrocortisone cream?

I don't know what you have, but I hope you get help from the allergist.

Similarly, I am still trying to figure out my rash condition, which appears everywhere in my body whenever my body temperature is raised (as in when I exercise) or when it is hot (temp is 80 and above, which happens quite often here in San Diego). I am now more prepared for the appearance of these rashes, as I know what triggers them (high temp's).

What kind of helps for me, besides cooling off and taking baths, are benadryl and hydrocortisone creams. They provide temporary relief of itching --- sometimes I scratch so hard I seem to draw blood. I hate it when I need to scratch my crotch area, especially when I am in a public place!

Good luck with things and keep us updated.

I would bet my right boobie that it's just contact dermatitis like ur PS said. It could be due to any number of things. Do you have allergies normally? Have u changed detergent-using different soap, lotion, etc?? Perhaps you should go to a dermatologist also. You may need a Rx.
