Unhappy Post Op Infection

Hi, I'm quite new to this site, but have really been enjoying the preliminary info. and research just before undergoing my aug. on Nov. 6. Now, about a week and a half out, I have developed an infection on my left side, including fever, pain and increased drainage. Went to dr and was placed on strong antibiotics. Anyone ever had treatment with antibiotics first rather than going straight back into surgery for drainage or removal of the implant? I was just beginning to feel better and enjoy the "girls" when this happened and am so discouraged. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!!

I sure wish you well. I had a Staph infection and had to have one removed. Please take care and just do what the Dr says.

Mine did clear up with antibiotics, but they have to be the right antibiotcs because MANY infections are resistant to the normal antibiotics, especially if it is a staff infection. I insisted my doctor take a culture (or a blood test might work if you have no open area's). And I was right, as the antibiotics that I was given were not working. If you do not feel improvement in 5 days, I would have your doctor change your antibiotics.

Also, if your incision looks red (or sore) dab it with Alchohol after your shower, and a few times a day, and by all means keep it covered with a small dab of antibiotic ointment, and gauze/tape. I did get rid of mine that way, when I heard my implant might have to be removed.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!
