My ba story...Part 1 -before surgery

Had my ba on Tuesday and am feeling really good today! My story started out 20 years ago as a 36A - I never felt really feminine in my clothes and especially in bikinis. I had my daughter at 23 and was thrilled to have 36C's while nursing, but that didn't last long due to problems with nipple cracking, pain, etc. I always had the thought of going in for ba due to loss of volume in upper poles but never had the time, or money to do so.

I am 45 now and have been blessed with time off from working by my DH. We decided to go for it. I had a consult with a doc in Beverly Hills who told me I shouldn't go larger than 350ccs or I would end up "looking like a stripper". (Sorry but I couldn't see much of a downside to that!!!!) I scheduled the surgery, then promptly chickened out and cancelled. What was I doing at 45 thinking about this?!!!!

A couple of weeks later there were articles everywhere about silicone being approved after all those years of study - and through those articles, thankfully found my doctor. I can't even express how happy I am that circumstances led me to Dr. Corbin. He explained that I would not need a lift because the nipples were well above the crease, and that the best incision for me would be under the breast. Apparently my areolas are not large enough to hide the incision scar well - the other surgeon did not inform me of this. The nurse came in and helped me try on from 300cc to 425cc sizers and I decided on 350 - 375. This seemed very large to me at the time.

I scheduled surgery for mid-January, this time circumstances interfered with my plans. I could NOT quit smoking no matter hard I tried, and the week before surgery we had unexpected houseguests due to a death in the family. So I once again put off the surgery. I began to question my sanity again, because I wanted it so badly, but couldn't seem to get it going. The timing just didn't feel right. Dr. Corbin's staff were very understanding and told me to call back when I was ready.

So for the next few months I couldn't stop thinking about getting the ba done - I worried about all the scary stories I had read on other websites and that I would never be able to quit smoking. I kept researching and thankfully found this website - so encouraging and helpful, the vibe here was so positive that I decided to go for it. I kept trying on various sizes of rice bags almost every day and decide that if I was going to do this I wanted 400cc!!!! The nurse told me if I were to have full unders, that the 400's would look more like 375 due to muscle compression.

I even worked up the courage to talk to my 22 year old nursing student daughter about it. I worried how she would feel about it. Surprisingly, she was extremely supportive! My DH arranged for a few days off to take care of me and I quit smoking for approximately 8 days before surgery. I did have a cigarette or two during that week but felt that cutting down from 2 packs a day to almost nothing for a week would be a plus.

The day arrived on Tuesday this week and I am so glad I went for it.

Good for you for going through with it to finally get what you wanted! 45 is still quite young- certainly young enough to enjoy many happy years with your new girls! Thanks for sharing- going to read part II now!
