Better Late Than Never B/A 12/21

My complete saga started on 12/20 when I recieved the call from the surgery nursing team to get a couple of last minute pre-op questions answered to confirm weight/height, alergies, etc. Before she hung up she says...see you tomorrow at 2:00. I said "what???", I was scheduled for 7:00am, first sugery of the day, wanted to get home ASAP, had the sitter scheduled, everything was planned for WEEKS! She promises to check on it and will call me back. She calls back and says they have a patient that has a Latex allergy that had to go first in the day. When I scheduled my BA (back in september!!) I was the only one on the schedule, could they have bumped someone else?? Anyway, she calls back and says if you can get here at 11:00 they will get me in ASAP. I had to call and book 2 different sitters to cover that span of time. Called her back to confirm the time and pretty much let the nurse have it over not notifying me earlier than the day before surgery!! She was very sympathetic and says that her and the other nurses were saying how pissed thay would be too. That made me feel better!
Surgery Day...Got there at 10:45, took me right back and put me in my booties, gown, and got my IV started immediately. Then I sat and waited for 2 hours! Apparently, the patient that had the latex allergy was getting the works done, face lift, BA/BL, and then they couldn't get the bleeding to stop. Then, they brought her into recovery and I could hear EVERYTHING! She was moaning and crying, all the while I was freaking out!! Within minutes the PS comes into see me and go over some last minute details and he again apologizes for the time "mix-up". About 15 minutes later the anestheologist (sp?) introduces himself and explains what he would be doing. Then off I go!
When I got into the Operating Suite I started to get really nervous, the anest. told me he was going to give me something to relax and the next thing I remember my husband is walking towards me with a diet Mt Dew and I started to cry. He got upset because he thought I was in pain, I was not, I was just happy to see him. Heaviness is hard to imagine until you experience it, but I didn't have any pain--just tightness and heaviness.
Post Op recovery was fine, got up and got dressed with help from Hubby, went to the bathroom via wheelchair, changed from pad to tampon. Waited for hubby to pull car around and was headed for home! From the time I went back to surgery to the time I was in the car was 2 hours! Pretty good turn around!
Got home and thought I would sleep for 2 days, but I was awake all the way home (1 1/2 hours) and sat in the Lazy Boy and dozed for in and out for the first day and was up and around on Day 2. Took shallow bath on night of Day 2, I was a little naustious and weak and didn't feel like I could stand in a shower very long.
I had a great recovery and was off pain meds by Day 5--not that I was trying to hurry up and get off of them. I had vowed to take them if I need them.
Went for post op on Day 6 and drove both ways, felt great, but was tired. Dr says the boobs look good!! Finally asked how many CC's I got.

Congrats on your new additions! Sucks that they messed up your surgery time but it sounds like everything went well in the end.

Alright...I created a yahoo group if you are interested. Just let me know you are from JBI! Literally just set it up so give me some time to fine tune, but I do have pre-op, and first 3 days post op pictures up.

CONGRATZ on your new boobies ~ that totally does suck that they rescheduled you without really telling you (besides the night before)and that you had to wait 2 hours before your surgery got underway ~ but at least you have your new boobies and that's all that matters right? hehe
