My story…
My breast augmentation surgery was 12/28/07 at 8:30am in Baton Rouge, LA. My doctor is Dr. Ann Ford Reilley. Surgery Day: I only had one problem at the surgery center. When I arrived, the nurse said we are going to take you back for some “pre-op stuff” and she told my mom and boyfriend to have a seat. I was taken back so fast, and I didn’t realize that was it. I didn’t get the opportunity for any hugs or well wishes. The good thing is I am a very strong person and I am very comfortable doing things alone. However, even a strong woman needs a little support. I was a little aggravated, but I’m just glad nothing went wrong. I arrived at 7:30am for surgery. Immediately, I was taken back for pre-op. First, they gave me a pregnancy test. I was given a surgery gown and my own little curtained area. The nurse came in and I gave her my pictures. She asked me a few questions and started the IV. Next, Dr. Reilley came in and marked on me in preparation for the surgery. After that, the anesthesiologist came in and talked with me. Finally, the nurse came back and gave me antibiotics in my IV. She asked me how many surgeries I have had, because I was so calm. She left me a few minutes and then came back and had me walk into the surgery area. I walked in and saw a group of people all dressed and ready to go. I lay on the table, and the anesthesiologist, who I recognized immediately because he was the only man in the bunch, gave me something to knock me out. That’s all I remember before waking up in recovery. I woke up in my recovery bed and I noticed my chest to be a little tight and heavy. My bed was rolled up against a wall and my arm on the other side was pressed up against the rail of the bed. It wasn’t comfortable and I couldn’t move. When they realized I woke up, the nurse asked me how I was. I told her that I needed to move my arm off the rail. I was in and out and I remember them discussing my heart rate. It was a little fast and they gave me some morphine. After that, they removed the IV. They then realized I had a slight rash, which I believe I had prior to surgery from the nausea patch behind my ear. I told them to take it off. They dressed me and put me in my wheelchair and wheeled me out, but not before I asked, "How many cc's did I get?". I was mostly awake during the ride home (about 45 minutes). The bumps on the interstate were uncomfortable but I was in no pain. When I got home (about 11am) I sat in the recliner. I had my sister feed me chicken noodle soup and I took my pain meds/muscle relaxers. I was surprised to be up for the remainder of the day only dozing a few times. I wasn’t in much pain. I spent the night in the recliner. I woke up the next day a little sore. I couldn’t move very much and needed help doing everything. I started taking 2 pain pills instead of 1 mostly for rest not pain. I have always had a high tolerance for medications. I spent 99% of my day in the recliner. On the third day, I woke up excited because I knew I could shower 48 hours after surgery and I would be able to see the new additions. It didn’t take me long to realize how limited I would be just doing normal activities. I was so sore I could barely stand it. My skin was so tight I thought it was going to pop. I would say the pain was severe. I can honestly say that I didn’t have a clue how bad it would hurt. I have never felt pain like that. Whenever I moved, my chest area felt like something was ripping, stretching, or tearing…that’s the best way for me to describe it. I waited till early that afternoon before I took my shower. Truthfully, I didn’t want to, but I wanted to take the wrap off to make sure I wasn’t bleeding or having any problems. The shower was horrible because I hurt so badly. I went back to the recliner and stayed there two more days. New Year’s Eve, which I thought I would at least be awake for, was not fun. I was getting restless and I didn’t want to ruin my entire family’s New Year’s Eve so we all went out to dinner. I had enough energy to sit there and feed myself, but that was it. The pain and tightness gets a little better each day, but I am at day 11 and still relatively uncomfortable. I have 375cc Mentor sub-muscular implants overfilled to 430. I am not sure if I have Mod or Mod + plus implants yet. I had a crease incision. If you’re not familiar with my stats, I’m 27, 5’6”, 165lbs. I am very athletic and pretty muscular. I had mild tuberous breasts, one being about an inch higher. I also had a large space between my breasts. I was a 36B pre-op and I have no clue what I am now. I am still wearing the medical compression bra they gave me. I have to wear it for 2 weeks and then I can sleep without it. I go back to the doctor 2/12/08. I went back to work 10 days post-op. It would have been hard for me to go back any earlier even though I work at a desk on a computer (no heavy lifting). Even with the pain, I feel like it will be worth it. I do think that the combination of not having kids and having tight, muscular pecs may have had an effect on my pain and tightness. The results are good so far. I am waiting for the drop and fluff. I am still taking muscle relaxers daily. The best thing is that I can already see the correction to my imperfections (shape mostly). I will try and post pictures later. For me, the hardest things still to do post-op are getting out the bathtub, sleeping, and putting on a seatbelt. |

Thanks for sharing all of the details! I am pre-ba, looking at probably a mid-march date. Our stats aren't real similar, but I haven't had any kids and one nurse did mention that since I haven't done any "natural stretching" of any kind, that can certainly have an impact on the tightness and pain. I, too, think it will be worth it!!
I am glad you said you needed 10 days off of work. I had planned to schedule off 9, so I am hoping that will still be OK. Everyone on this board has had such different recovery experiences it's hard to tell. I hadn't thought much about the seatbelt, but that sure makes sense that it wouldn't be too comfortable! Are you still taking any pain meds, or are you taking OTC stuff? I'm crossing my fingers for you that your pain subsides very very SOON!!!

Glad to hear it went well. Don't worry, those muscles will relax soon and that soreness will go away.
Happy healing and thanks for sharing your story with us!
