Talking Greetings from Boobieville!!! BA 01/11/08

Good morning All!! I am happy to report that I had my BA yesterday and am feeling great.

My surgery was scheduled for 11 am so I was directed to arrive at the surgical center at 10 am. Because the were ahead of schedule, they whisked me right in to the pre-op/recovery area as soon as I arrived. My nurse Jill took my belingings and asked he some general health questions to get me signed in. She then directed me to the bathroom to change into my gown, TED stockings (to prevent DVT) and urinate for a pregnancy test. Once that was down, I got back into bed and the RN started my IV. My anesthesiologist came in to introduce himself, ask questions and let me know what to expect. I asked him to add a little anti-nauseant to my IV which he was fine with so I got a dose of Decadron. Shortly after, my surgeon and the lead OR nurse came to see me, mark me and review my pictures. We talked about what I wanted (results-wise) and he continued to feel the 350cc moderate plus profile was the way to go...he also had 325cc's in the OR just in case. The nurse anesthesiologist then came over and told me she was going to give me some meds...I asked what I was getting and she said Versed (which I truly believe to be one of the best drugs on earth!!). She administered it and I started to feel very relaxed. Since Versed is also an amnesiac, I only vaguely remember them wheeling me into the OR and scooching me over onto the operating table. The last thing I remember was the anesthesiologist putting the mask over my face and that was it.

Next thing I remember I was in recovery, my pain level hovered around an 8 out of 10 so overall, I got three shots of Morphine. It came down to about a 5out of 10 and at that point they brought my girlfriend back to see me and go over my discharge instructions. I ended up with 350cc moderate plus profile, my right was filled to 400 and my left filled to 385. They sent my friend out to pull her car up and my nurse helped me get dress and wheeled me outside. I felt just a little bit nauseous once I was up and getting into the car. The nurse told me to take a Phenergan for nausea follwed by a percocet a half hour later. I did both of those things and then off and on for the hour ride home.

When I got home, I went right to bed for a while. I felt pretty tight and sore in my crease area (I had a trans ax incision) but overall, I felt great. I had good pain control and after a nap, got up and ate some dinner and watched a movie propped up on the couch. I also began lifting my arms up (per the PS instructions) to start stretching that laternal muscle that runs down the length of your side. I also started some slight cleavage presses by pushing my arms together...no real problems with either. I continued to take my pain meds throughtout the evening but have had no nausea whatsoever. I went to bed at 10pm and took 2 percocet at night. I slept ok, woke up a few times to pee and realign myself in the bed but fell back to sleep ok.

Today, I am a little more swollen and maybe a little more sore but still tolerable. So far, no bruising or anything. I continue to do some am lifs and light massage once every hour that I am awake. Overall, I think the look great...incredibly high and tight, but just what I wanted. Looks like I will probably end up a D I am to wear the VERY tight bandeau pressure bandage (which sits under my armpits and ends about 2-3 inches above my nipple for 1 week. I get to shower on Monday and remove the waterproof dressings from under my armpits. I also go back to see my PS on Thursday for my post op visit.

So all in all, everything is good at this point. My friend took some pics for me today and I will continue to take the daily this week and then maybe a couple times a week after that to monitor my progress.

THANK YOU TO ALL for your wealth of information and generous support!! It means more than you know!!

Christine
