Smile The day finally arrived!

Hello All,
I've been reading this sight everyday for the past two months in preparation for my BA. The stories I read here gave me the confidence to go into surgery with very little worries. Thank you to all the posters who shared their stories. Well, now for mine. My surgery was scheduled for 1/14/08 at 1:15PM. I was instructed to be at the surgery center at 12:15 PM. My PS was running late, so I ended up going into surgery around 3:00PM. I've never had surgery or anesthesia before, so I was pretty nervous. The nurse called me back at 12:30 to get changed into the beautiful surgery attire and start the IV. So far, I'd have to say getting the IV was the worst part. They ended up giving me approximately two bags of IV solution before the operation. I couldn't pee for the life of me, so they we were trying anything to get me to go. I relaxed with my IV for approximately two hours before the anesthesiologist came out to talk to me. I don't have an eventful medical history, so she really just explained what was going to happen. My PS then came out to confirm size, take before pictures and draw on me. After that, the OR nurse (who was very nice) brought me back to the OR. She covered me with warm blankets, stabilized my arms and legs. The anesthesiologist then came in and said she was going to give me something to help me relax. Next thing I know I was in the recovery room, thinking why the BA didn’t happen. The OR nurses laughed and said "it did, and you are all done." This was weird. I was a little shaky and cold when I woke up, but it wasn't terrible. So far the experience has been great, and I feel good. I'm taking my pain meds as directed, and have been pretty comfortable. I'm also making sure to walk around a bit and breathe deeply. I hope this post wasn't too boring. I just want all you ladies that are waiting for their BA to know that the surgery is not bad at all. Please don't spend your time worrying or being anxious.

There is definitely nothing wrong with an uneventful post! I am hopeful that my experience will be quite similar although I'd rather go right away in the morning than wait until 3pm - that might do me right in!!!

Best of luck with your recovery and enjoy!
