Wink Better than expected

I had my BA done on January 11, 2008. I didn't have the best nights sleep the night before my surgery, mostly because I was getting anxious about how I would take care of my kids and how I would handle my pain. It also didn't help that my husband, who is a physician, told me some OR horror story. Anyway, when it was finally time to wake up for the day, I was ready. My scheduled surgery time was 11 am and I need to be at the surgical center at 9:30 am. Being that we live an hour away, hunger really wasn't too much of a problem. Although, seeing my kids eat breakfast wasn't the easiest thing in the world.

When we got to the center, I filled out a few papers but overall had little paper work because I pre-registered online. My husband and I were taken back to the pre/post-op room where I was asked to change into a gown and put on some very snazzy socks. The nurse then took my vitals and started an IV. My BP was a little high for me so I asked for something to calm my nerves. They gave me some Versed. Shortly after I became very relaxed and at ease. Unlike so other people, I do remember most of what happened and I didn't get too loopy. My PS came in and marked me. I was getting 300 cc implants through an areolar incision and a cresent lift on my left breast. Then they wheeled me back to the OR where I slid over to the table and then the mask was on and I was out.

I remember waking up after about 30 minutes in recovery. My pain was a 10 out of 10. I received two shots of Morphine and 2 tablets of Percoset. Then I was at a 1 or 2. Then I distinctly remember asking the nurse if I really had boobies and were they big enough. My husband then came back to the room and I asked him the same questions, "Do I really have boobs? Are they big enough?" Then I wanted to know the details-what size implants and cc's did I end up getting. My PS had brought in 270 cc just in case the 300s were too big. I ended up having the 300s o/f to 310 cc (not much-just two teaspoons more of saline). I had a few cups of ginger ale to settle my stomach and quench my thirst. Then I got dressed and my husband got the car.

I was feeling really great and we stopped by Wendy's because my husband was starving. I really wanted a Frosty, which probably wasn't the best idea. I slowly drank it, but I did get very nauseas and we had to stop for a little bit. I never got sick, but I thought I might.

When we got home, I crashed on the couch. My husband had to go into his office for a little bit so I got a good 2 hour nap. When he got home, with two or our three kids, I was feeling good. I wasn't in much pain and it was managed by one Lortab. I had a small dinner and went to sleep for the night.

The next day I felt really good. I only took two Lortabs the entire day and switched to Advil for pain. I was able to pick up my 20-month old and do a lot of stuff that I normally do. Don't get me wrong, most of the day was spent on the couch watching Hannah Montana with my girls, but I was able to get up and take care of some things. Some of you might be concerned that I was picking up my son and stuff, but my doctor encouraged this after 24 hours. He also wanted me off of pain pills as soon as possible because they just make you feel out of it.

I am now one-week out and feel great. I don't take anything for the pain and I have resumed most of my pre-BA activities. I haven't made it back to the gym yet, but I plan to next week. Every once in a while I will feel like my muscles are being pulled, but it helps to move my arms around. I am so excited for my boobs to look normal and feel softer. My right breast is starting to look a lot better, but the left is still pretty high. I still look pretty square also.

Overall, it was a great experience. After having three kids and nursing them each over a year, it is nice to see my boobs again. My husband loves them more than he thought he would and I am more comfortable in my skin.

Congrats!!

Thanks so much for sharing...isn't it amazing how much "better in your own skin" a BA can make you feel?? They have completely changed my body proportions and everything looks so different and so much better...

Glad to hear everything went went and your recovery has been uneventful!! Happy Healing and Enjoy
