8 hours Post BA--FINALLY, I have boobies LOL
Hey everyone. Have my BA done today I will try to remember everything as my timelines seemed messed up w/ all the drugs. LOL
Left the house at 8:40 and had to be at hospital at 10. And surgery scheduled for noon. We left early as I was getting anxious. Got there at 9:30 and they promptly called me back at ten on the nose. Pee'ed in a cup and then took me to my room and had to strip down completely. (I was at least hopeing to keep my undies on, but no such luck LOL) Got settled in bed and they took my vitals and I had a temp of 100.2....don't know where that came from as I felt fine. Then they started my IV. I am never bothered by needles but ouch that hurt for like 30 mins. afterward. The anestiologist(?) came in about 11:20 and went over some stuff. He was really nice. Then the doc came in and marked me up and joked around w/ me. Then a nurse came in and asked more questions. Had to go pee before they took me back so trying to make it down the hall holding my iv bag and keeping my hiney covered was not fun. LOL The anestiologist came back in, I then kissed my hubby, and the anest. gave me some happy juice. I felt like I was floating in a dream. Felt good. Got to the OR around 11:40 and I moved over to the other bed and he put the mask on and told me to take deep breaths and he asked me some questions and I couldn't get my tongue to coorporate as it went to 'sleep' first and I sounded like a homeless drunk trying to talk and I remember thinking that was funny and that is all I remember before waking up in recovery #1 around 2 I think. I didn't really feel any pain just my mouth was terribly dry so I asked for sprite. Then I dozed on and off and started to feel some pain...I think I told them a level 4-5 pain so she gave me some morphine. Then I remember them wheeling me to my private recovery room and my husband and dad came back to see me. I really went through the Sierra Mist as I guess dry-mouth is a side effect?!?!? I couldn't stay awake...in and out constantly. Finally she mentioned getting me up to go pee and that was what I was soooo scared of as I knew getting out of that bed would hurt like hell. But she let me take my time and by the time I walked halfway to the restroom I felt so much better. Had I known that I would have gotten up way sooner. I had no trouble peeing and then went back and my wonderful husband helped me get dressed. He made some comment on how this was a swap...he's always trying to get my clothes off, not putting them on me. LOL He brought the truck around and I had no problem getting up in it. We were on our way home and I got to craving doughnuts so he stopped by a Dixie Cream and got me a dozen doughnut holes...I enhaled about 6 of them super fast along w/ a Sprite. All I have had was 2 crackers at the hospital since 10:00 the night before. I went through a small phase where I had the elephant on the chest feeling but now I feel as if I have done about 300 pushups and my muscles really are sore. Surprisingly I am able to get out of the bed by myself. Tomorrow or day 3 may be a different story but for now, not so bad. My husband is the greatest. He has gotten me jello and made me a bowl of Lipton cup-s-soup. Brought me drings, fluffed my pillows, brought me the newspaper. He is a doting (spell?) husband and the best. I could not ask for anything more. Well, I am gonna get some more rest. I have to be back at the doc's at 9:30 to get into my sports bra. I am already ready to get this bandaging off. I now know what a tightly rolled burrito feels like. LOL Oh me and my hubby took a tiny peek down the top middle of bandageing and for the first time ever....I saw cleavage. YIPEEEE...So worth it already. Hope this wasn't too boring. Thanks to all for the well-wishes. I so appreciate it. Have a blessed night. Julie |

I'm glad everything went good.
Dry mouth is a symptom of something, I wake up feeling like I have a wad of cotton balls in my mouth. |

That is exactly how I would describe it---cotton balls. When I was trying to eat my crackers at the hospital it was awkward. They would just all clump up and would get stuck in my mouth. I had a pretty good night last night. Around 10 I went to bed and my pain pills were starting to wear off so getting in the bed I did some moaning and groaning while getting settled. My husband brought me my pills and I was asleep in no time and slept till 5:30. So I went to the bathroom then hubby helped me get settled in the recliner and he went back to bed. I thought I was going to watch Little House on the Prarie but was asleep about 5 mins later and slept till 7. I really feel good. Even dressed myself. Anyway, off to the doc for my checkup. C-ya |

Well, to be honest, I didn't want to get out of bed by myself. My kids stayed w/ my parents so I slept in my daughters bed because there is a tv in there and the bed sits lower to the floor. I was supposed to holler at my husband to help me get up when I needed to go pee. Well, I hollered 10 times and he couldn't hear me. I couldn't yell loudly due to the tube being in my throat and I was hoarse. And I couldn't reach far enough up either to grab my cell phone either to call him. So after several attempts of trying to get up I fianlly managed. Now this morning I was really stiff as I slept in my own bed from 12 - 7:30 on my back the whole time, of course. My husband helped me sit up and then I had him pull me by the ankles and drag me to the edge of the bed. It was funny but hey, it worked. The doc took my bandages off yesterday and I am now in a sports bra only. It feels a lot better as the bandages were itching my back...drove me nuts. He even said I didn't have to sleep in it if I didn't want to. But I will sleep in it just because it gives me a better piece of mind. |

Your post made me laugh...ouch!! I understand about not being able to reach your cell and then to try and yell or even speak loudly is hard on the throat. It's kind of comical at times as I try to use every finger possible to reach something. Day three for me and it still hurts like a mother to sit myself straight up. Good Times!! Happy recovery to you

I am so glad things went well and hubby is so supportive. I don't know what I would have done without mine, or my mom for that matter.
