24 Hours Post-Op, Glad I Did It!
Ok, so here are a few details as to my BA experience. I'm going to start with a few days before.
Four days prior to BA: PS chose HP and now I'm questioning and measuring myself over and over thinking I need Moderate+. Actually called office and spoke with his assistant. She said he chose HP because he felt it would look best on my frame and because I have mild ptosis. I'm really stressed thinking I'm going to end up with baseballs on my chest (31" ribcage). But I'm going with what PS suggested...HP. Three days prior to BA: I'm going too large...450cc. Everyone is going to notice and I'm going to look silly. What am I thinking!!! Two days prior to BA: People are going to judge me and think less of me....totally a bad day and just plain being irrational today. One day prior to BA: Change of attitude...I think they're going to look great and it's totally going to be worth it ![]() The big day(yesterday). Woke up at 5:45. Friend drove me to surgery center and arrived at 6:30am. Was in gown and peed over the pregnancy stick by 7am. IV in by 7:15 (ouchie) and doc came in to do his artwork. I'm very calm for being there by myself. My dh was still at home with our three kids to get our oldest to school. 7:20ish anesthesiologist came in (she was so kind) and explained everything. Told her I get sick afterwards and I was prepared for that. She said she'd give me something to try to prevent it and then proceeded to give me my two martini's as she described it. By 7:30 I was wheeled into another room where I was told to move over to another table. And that's all I remember. Barely remember waking up. I was surprised that I wasn't bawling or throwing up after waking up! So happy about that. Soon dh got there and I'm begging to see my new boobs. The nurse gets out a tiny mirror and barely unsnaps my super surgical bra for a glimpse. I think the doctor came in briefly also and said something about everything going great. Had the dry mouth thing and got the good ole ice chips which were the best things ever. Also got some chap stick, demarol and was ready to go after I got dressed. Got home by 12:30 and sat in our recliner with several pillows. Still feeling good as I'm pretty drugged up. Hubby is being a true champ and still is. Started feeling the pain a few hours later and began taking vicadin and muscle relaxer. I slept on the recliner all night, but can't seem to get myself out of it without dh pushing my back to the edge. Going to the restroom is ok, just uncomfortable and have to move slowly. I don't have much of an appetite yet, and still no wooziness. Can't believe it! Saturday, Day Two-Feeling much more pain today...extreme tightness in the chest. I try to lift my arms up to my shoulders only periodically for range-of-motion. Doubled up on the vicadin and then threw up. I've now backed down on the vicadin since I HATE feeling sick. I've realized this bra they put me in is about two sizes too small and hurts like heck as does the bandage that is wrapped aroung the top. Also, I've been icing periodically and that seems to help. I don't want to overdo it, but I also don't want to sit all day so I've been taking slow walks around the house every now and then. Also took off the bra and bandage and took a few pics. They look amazing and I'm so pleased with the size and the HP's. I can't imagine how the wider implants would have fit on my chest...very strange. So that's my story up to now. I hope it's helpful for those of you getting ready to go in soon. I sure experienced a lot of anxiety before but I got over it by the day before and things went smoothly

I'm so glad that you wrote down your feelings prior to your surgery. I am 5 days before surgery and my emotions are going everywhere and to add on top of that...I sat on the bathroom floor half the night last night thinking I was going to throw up, but never did. Today I don't feel good either. I really hope I recover from this before my surgery day! I am glad you are doing well. I'm very happy for you. Congratulations!

I have to say, it's a lot to want to do a BA, make the appointment, pick the PS, pay the money, set the date and set aside the week/weeks for when the BA actually happens. And it's all for elective surgery. So yeah, it's going to cause some stress somewhere along the way. I just wasn't prepared for all the pre-anxiety and really didn't know it was normal. So what you're experiencing right now five days before is soooo normal and to be expected. Take some deep breaths and trust your PS. It's all going to turn out well and you're going to love your new boobs!! Good luck and can't wait to hear from you next week maybe. |

I am so glad everything went well and you are happy. I too was concerned about the size PS picked for me, but I am happy. They are a little swollen and sometimes I feel like they are in my armpits, but I think in the end they will be perfect.

Congratulations! I totally agree that it can be hard to let go and just decide to trust your PS, but 99 times out of 100, they know what's best for us implant-wise! Have an easy and smooth recovery!
