A very English boob-job!

Well here I am, back at work and with nice big boobs!

I had my BA on the 17th Feb and woke up early to a cold, frosty and misty morning so that I could be in London for 12. Caught the bus from my little town to Oxford, and then caught another bus to London's Marble Arch. Texted my friends constantly on the way as I was feeling pretty nervous. Once in London I walked to the hospital which just looked like one of those old Georgian terraced houses and so looked tiny! The reception looked dark and dingy to me, like an old library, which suprised me and I started to get a strange feeling that I was making a mistake. Luckily the staff were all really nice though.
Was shown through to my room which was small and basic but had a TV and private bathroom. A nurse took me through all my paperwork. I asked when I was expected to go down for my op but she didn't yet know. Sat around for a bit reading my book and watching some trashy day-time TV. Then the anaestheologist came into my room to go through more paperwork. I told him that it was the anaesthetic which was scaring me the most and he said "well, that's not surprising, as it is the most unpleasant and most risky part of the operation". Not what I wanted to hear! I think he could see that I was genuinely nervous in the end though because he agreed to giving me a pre-op med for my nerves (but I'd have to wait for that). Asked when my op would be again (it was originally scheduled for 1pm) and he said that there were two more to go before me and I'd probably be waiting till about 4pm. Wasn't too annoyed as I was so nervous that I wasn't really in a hurry to get it done, but I WAS hungry and thirsty - I hadn't eaten since 7 the night before!

More waiting... more day-time TV... then in came my surgeon (more paperwork), and he drew on me (starting to feel very real by this point!), took some pictures. Then more waiting... Then in came a nurse with me pre-med (a small sleeping pill). By this point I wasn't too nervous, just tired, which was good really. I took the pill and eventually felt more tired, and also strangely 'drunk'!

Then I was taken up to the operating floor! Felt a little jittery and kept waffling on to the poor nurse (I become very talkative and giggly when nervous). I was wearing my hospital gown, hospital knickers and dressing gown which the nurse kindly took back to my room. Then I went into the Op-Room! I remember blue and white tiled walls, lots of stainless steel, bright lights. There were two middle-aged men, one being the anaestheologist who said I was very tall as I was walking in. I told him I'm 5ft8 (don't know why - I'm 5ft9!). Got onto the bed and tore the paper sheet I was lying on a little - kept saying sorry. A blanket was put over me and the 2 men started to put a needle in my left wrist (who were really sweet and one of them said that they wished they didn't have to hurt me!). Needle hardly painful at all, then I was asked "what's your poison?" I said "vodka and Coke!" Someone said "oh, you have a sweet tooth". I then felt a funny feeling in my arm, then burning around my jaw and neck and behind my ears, then nothing!

Woke up to (I think) someone saying "hello" to me. I asked if it was done and I heard two women saying yes, it was all over. It just all felt too weird to be out one minute then awake, post-op, the next! I kept saying "no! It can't be over. Are you joking?" They were laughing (in a nice way) and a man (don't remember who) asked if I was ok and they said I didn't believe it was over which they found funny. Then I remember being moved off on a trolley (I remember this because I shouted out "wow! I'm being wheeled!!"), and put into my room, onto my bed and asked if I felt ok, needed anything, etc. I just said that all I needed was food. So I was brought my dinner which looked lovely but I then proceeded to fall asleep - oh well.

Afterwards was fine. Some sickness but has a jab for that which made me better. Hardly any pain at all. Slept very well in the hospital that night!

Next morning, b/f picked me up, we had some lunch in a cafe and then set off home in the car whereupon I proceeded to spend the next 7 days at home in bed having food, flowers, drinks, cards, etc brought to me! I actually enjoyed the recovery, and feel a little fed-up about being back in the 'real world' and back to work.

Oh yes, and the boobs? I love them! They're still a little sore at the sides and a bit swollen at the tops but I love the look of them already. I was so worried pre-op that 390cc would be too small, but I actually think that if I went any bigger they'd be too big. Glad I didn't go smaller though as they're the perfect size. I'm currently wearing a 32DD sports bra which actually feels too small in places! So all in all, I am VERY pleased with the results!

Great story, you were the day before me, and got me thinking about UK - lol, I was born in London, and can completely picture your hospital - lol.

Hope you can still take it easy, I am not back to work yet, but kinda over did it today, with ironing and driving and feeling it now. I guess your body will slow you down pretty good when it feels the need.

ATB with your recovery.

Nic

I was wondering how you got on. Glad to hear it's going well. Congrats!

p.s. told ya the general anesthetic was wicked stuff, it's so surreal - there one second, gone, and back the next.

I know! When I would start freaking out about the GA I'd just think about what people said on here and how it doesn't really hurt and how some people actually like it!

You know what? I didn't really dislike anything about my hospital stay and would go through it all again tomorrow. Might get addicted to surgery just so I can have nice quiet stays in hospital away from the stresses of work!

I rather enjoyed my tay in hospital too! Great food and the staff were all very nice and didn't make me feel vain or silly for having an operation of that kind.

CONGRATS on your new boobies!!! Thanks for sharing your story, that was totally cute! The first time I ever had to go under GA, I was SOOO nervous too! When the anethesiologist came to introduce himself, I asked what the latest form of putting someone under was, and joked, about him hitting me over the head with a big club. So, as he was getting ready to put me under he turned to the nurse and asked for the hammer and I looked over at her and she just looked totally bewildered, well from what I could see from her eyes. I then remember the last thing I said was the room is starting to spin. Next thing I know, I was waking up. I remember being pretty much with it and turned to the nurse who was waiting next to me and asked her how big the lump was on my head and she just looked at me and said, "Excuse me?" "Do you know where you are?" I guess she thought I was still having effects from the drugs. I just laughed and said never mind!!!!

Anyway, sorry to go on, I just had to share that story!!
Congrats again on your new boobies and I'm SOO glad you have a wonderful recovery, sounds like it was just brilliant!!

Glad to hear it all went well... from your description it sounds like you went to the same hospital as me! I remember thinking exactly the same as I walked in there ' is this really a hospital'?!

Hope the rest of your recovery goes as well as the first week,
xx
