It still doesn't seem real!
I still can hardly believe I went through with this!
But here I am just over 1 day later, with the proof. I've been lurking a bunch here, but never posted much because there was so much to read (I can't imagine doing this without everything I learned here!), now it's my turn I guess! I had just under a 2 hour drive to the surgical facility. The scheduling nurse at the PS office requested the lastest start possible so we wouldn't have to get up in the middle of the night. I had to get there at 11:45 am. That was perfect. I didn't feel nervous at all. I did a few last minute things at home before we left. We (DH & I) got there about 15 minutes early. The admitting people had me sign some forms. Then waited a bit more until I was called back. Had to supply a urine sample, then changed into gown and footie socks. Took me a few minutes to figure out how the gown went on! Nothing on underneath. They settled me in the pre-op area, started an IV. The anesthetist came in and aksed some more health questions. They gave me some of the drugs there. The doctor came in at one point and chatted briefly. They rolled me into the OR, the anesthetist was chatting a little more, then that was it! No warning, counting up to or down from 10, nothing! (that I remember anyway). Next thing I was suddenly awake in the post-op area, asking me how I felt, if I had any pain. No pain, just pressure. No nausea, thank goodness! They gave me some ice chips. After a little while my hubby came in. We waited a little more, then he went to get the car and they got me dressed, and got me in a wheelchair to the exit. We left by 3pm. The car ride home was fine. I was alert enough to help read the mapquest directions home. Ate some crackers and drank some ginger ale. That evening was fine. ate some toast with peanut butter and jelly for dinner. The biggest shock was how little I could do with my arms, I couldn't reach so many things. I hadn't anticipated that! Hard to pull up my (elastic-waist) pants, too. Took my meds and used the frozen peas as scheduled. I wrote everything down, when I was supposed to take something, and checked-off when I took it (yes, I'm a geek). I slept in bed but propped up with lots of pillows. It was hard to adjust position without having the strength to do so with my arms. Good thing I've been working on my abs, because they've gotten a workout! The next morning (this morning) I felt a little lightheaded. I had some breakfast of juice and oatmeal, so I don't think it was low blood sugar. I think it was the vicodin catching up with me. So tried to switch just to tylenol, but I still needed a vicodin in the afternoon. My upper body mobility is a little better today, with a little more strength. So far they aren't too high, and it's hard to judge the swelling. Righty is more swollen, but I'm also right handed so maybe I'm just doing too much. I get paranoid once in a while that it's a hematoma, but it's really not that much bigger than lefty. I have next week off up to Friday, and am looking forward to my progression! |

Yeah for new boobies!
Congrats and it sounds like you are doing remarkable. I still can't believe I finally went through with it. But I'm very happy I did and it will only get better!

NOT geeky at all! I made a whole 7-day schedule with all of the meds I was supposed to take every day written down, and I checked it off as I went. If I took anything extra (I get migraines, and did get a couple), I wrote that down too. There's no way I would have been able to keep track of it all otherwise, especially considering how groggy I was those first few days.

Thanks everyone!
I'm feeling even better today. Less swelling. And haven't had to take the vicodin today, yay! |

Congrats! I was so not alert on the ride home like you, I was dozing on and off. I anticipated being able to help with the mapquest directions, but my poor husband was on his own with that one. I don't even remember getting dressed at the surgical center, I probably did help but was too sleepy to remember. I don't have much pain, but I do get dizzy here and there. Probably from the Celebrex..

congrats! We got our boobs on the same day, and i can totally relate about not anticipating how little we can move our arms. I prop up on pillows and in the middle of the night when i wake up, I have slid all the way down and need my mom to help get me back up...my legs and abs are getting stronger though ha. And I've also been keeping a checklist..with the pain meds, and 4 vitamins that I have to take 3 times a day, I cant not. Well, best of luck!
